CEPT University announces Admission to PhD Program in Architecture and Planning for Session 2024

 

CEPT University PhD Admission 2024 – Center for Environmental Planning and Technology University (CEPT), Ahmedabad invites applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) areas of Architecture and Planning for the academic session 2024. The objective of the program is to train scholars in advanced research and training. The program aspires to build up core competencies such as research capabilities, critical thinking and writing, preparedness for publishing, and communication through rigorous coursework. The University also offers full tuition fee waivers, the President’s scholarship, and work opportunities on campus to the PhD scholars.

Eligibility Criteria 

 

PhD in Architecture

  • A professional masters (or equivalent) degree in Architecture, Architectural Design, Conservation, History & Theory, or Landscape Architecture is required.
  • Master’s degree in social sciences (sociology, anthropology, economics, environmental studies, history), art history or civil engineering, is also acceptable on the condition that the Bachelor’s degree is from Architecture
  • Applicants in the general category shall have a minimum of 55 % aggregate marks and those in the reserved categories shall have a minimum of 50 % aggregate marks in Master’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized University/Institution.

 

PhD in Planning

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Technology, Environmental Engineering, Construction Technology, Planning, Urban Design, Architecture is required.
  • A professional masters (or equivalent) degree  in fields related to Planning (Infrastructure, Housing, Transport or any other planning programs) or in Urban Design or Urban Management is required.
  • Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Geography/ Sociology/ Economics/ GIS/Geomatics/ Environmental Science /Climate Studies/ Social Work/ Development Studies/ Policy Studies/ Political Science, is also acceptable.
  • Applicants without a background in Planning degree may be suggested additional courses related to Planning along with the PhD coursework.
  • Applicants in the general category shall have a minimum of 55 % aggregate marks, and those in the reserved categories shall have a minimum of 50 % aggregate marks in Master’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized University/Institution

 

Application Process

  • Interested candidates can apply online through the official website https://admissions.cept.ac.in/
  • The CEPT Admissions is a completely online process. To apply, please click on the “Apply Online” link on the website: www.admissions.cept.ac.in which will redirect you to the Admissions portal
  • Candidates can apply for multiple programs at CEPT University. However, you need to pay separate application fees for each program.
  • The candidates are desirous to seek admission to be required to apply online. Only those applicants, who apply online before the last date and satisfy the eligibility criteria, will be considered for admission.
  • The application fee can be paid through Debit/Credit card, internet banking or cash payment by generating bank challan.

 

 

 

Selection Process 

 

  • The admission applications will be reviewed by the admission selection committee, and the shortlisted applicants will be called for a written test and admission interview.

 

Entrance Exam 

  • Written test: This will comprise one impromptu response essay of 500 words on any relevant debatable issue related to:  [i] architectural built environment, history, theory, related topics; or [ii] urban studies, urban planning, infrastructure, related topics; for architecture and planning admission processes, respectively.  
  • There will be a separate section in the written test that will focus on research methodological debates.
  • The essay will be evaluated on the: 

[i] logical flow of the narrative, 

[ii] strength of analysis, 

[iii] critical thinking, and 

[iv] communication/articulation
