Centre for Development Studies Trivandrum announces Admission to PhD Program in Economics 2023

 

CDS Trivandrum PhD Admission 2023 – Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala invites applications for Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) Program in Economics for the academic session commencing in August 2023-24.

• Date of Entrance Examination : June 04, 2023
• Announcement of Candidates shortlisted for interview : June 16,2023
• Commencement of programme: August 01, 2023

 

Eligibility Criteria

• PhD Program at CDS is subject to UGC regulations. As per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/PhD Degrees) Regulations of 2016
• Any of the following options may be satisfied
• An M.Phil degree from any Indian university recognized by the UGC or from a foreign educational institution
• Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
• Eligibility for admission does not ensure fellowship. Fellowship award will be based on a separate interview in the presence of sponsoring agencies
• A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Person with Disability (PWD) and other categories of candidates.

 

Reservation

• India belonging to SC, ST, OBC (NCL) & Persons with Disability (PWD) (≥ 40% disability) as per Govt. of India rules
• Reservation is applicable to only 20 seats earmarked for students from India

 

Application Process

• CDS Trivandrum admission application form can be downloaded from Centre for Development Studies Website www.cds.edu

• Application is to be submitted in the prescribed format along with copies of all mark sheets/certificates from +2 onwards
• Application with enclosures should reach the Academic Program Office, Centre for Development Studies, floor, Medical College (PO), Thiruvananthapuram-695011, Kerala

 

Application Fee

• Tuition Fee Rs.120/- per semester
• JNU Registration/Enrolment Fee Rs.7615 (one-time fee)
• Miscellaneous Charges Rs.500/-

 

Admission Procedure

• No more than twelve candidates will be selected for the PhD program in Economics
• Statutory reservation for Indian candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (NCL) & Persons with Disability (PWD) (40% disability) as per Govt. of India rules is provided
• Foreign nationals and officials nominated by the Government of Kerala will be considered separately
• The Selection process will be based on UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/PhD Degrees) Regulations of 2016
