Start of application form 04th December 2020
Last date of Submission of application forms (attached below) by email 15th December 2020
Publication of the list of eligible candidates on the University website 20th December 2020
Date of written admission test (excluding non-NET/SET/M.Phil. candidates) 27th December 2020
Publication of list of successful candidates 30th December 2020
Date of interview (for all candidates including those qualified in NET/SET/M.Phil.) 04th January 2021
Publication of the final list of successful candidates 08th January 2021

Number of Seats

Total 10 Seats. Reservation of seats shall follow the guidelines provided in the West Bengal Higher Educational Institutions, (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013.

Eligibility Criteria for Calcutta University PhD Admission 2020
  • Candidates holding M.A. degree from UGC recognized universities in History/ Political Science/ Economics/ International Relations/ Sociology/South & Southeast Asian Studies/ Human Rights. Foreign students’ candidature is subject to clearance from concerned agencies.
  • Qualifying marks for written test: 55% for General category; 50 % for SC/ST/OBC/PH.

Calcutta University PhD Admission 2020 Application Process
  • Application Form can be downloaded at the official website https://www.caluniv.ac.in/
  • The completed application form must be submitted on pdf format by email to the Head of the Department for South & Southeast Asian Studies: [email protected]
  • Completed the application form along with Self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents/marksheets must be submitted by the candidate at the office of Department of South & Southeast Asian Studies (Alipore Campus), University of Calcutta after paying Rs. 100/- in cash to the cash counter of the University.

Application Fee
  • Rs. 100/- to be paid at the Cash Counter (as application fee for Ph. D. admission) through a challan obtainable from the Sales Counter at CU or online payment of Rs 100 through SBI Collect [ https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect/]

Selection Process
  • Selection will be based on an online written examination of 1 hour duration and online interview.
