Eligibility Criteria for AIIMS Bhubaneswar PhD Admission 2021

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

Medical qualification

MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch in the subject concerned or Diplomate of National Board (DNB) of Examination will be considered eligible for admission.

Non-Medical qualification

For non-medical candidates, eligibility shall be a Master’s Degree (two years course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per the requirement of the project. Candidates holding M.Sc. in a subject allied to Life Sciences/Biomedical Sciences (Other than M.Sc. Nursing) M.Tech. The degree will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category.

Candidates having eligibility under the non-medical category should have at least 55% marks in the last eligibility examination qualified (50 % in case of SC/ST/OBC/OPH candidates).

Candidates possessing a Master’s Degree through distance learning course shall not be eligible.

The non-medical candidates should have qualified in any one of the following national entrance tests in the last 2 years (Valid Fellowship):

• Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF
• ICMR – JRF
• DBT – JRF
• NBHM screening test
• Graduate aptitude test (GATE)
• INSPIRE fellowship
• UGC – JRF
• CSIR – JRF

AIIMS Bhubaneswar PhD Admission 2021 Application Process

• Interested candidates can apply online through the official website https://aiimsbhubaneswar.nic.in/

• Application form available at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar website (https://www.aiimsbhubaneswar.nic.in) should be duly filled and the filled application form should be forwarded through Speed Post to The Registrar, Examination Cell, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, At-Sijua, Post-Dumuduma Patrapada, Bhubaneswar -751019 to reach on or before 23rd February 2021 at 5:00 pm.

• The envelope should be marked as “AIIMS BBSR PhD 2020-21”. Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be disqualified.

For General/OBC category

Rs. 1500/- + transaction Charges as applicable

For SC/ST category

Rs. 1200/- + transaction Charges as applicable

Selection Process

• Applications will be screened for eligibility as per the Institute guideline. The names of the short-listed candidates along with the date and time for the personal interview will be displayed on the AIIMS Bhubaneswar website.

• The list of Ph.D. guides (who have a vacancy for Ph.D. students in their laboratory) would be given to shortlisted candidates. The final selection would be based on the performance in the interview.

• Individual Junior Research Fellowship holders (UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, DST INSPIRE, AYUSH, and others) will be selected on the basis of the interview. Selected candidates are expected to complete the registration process by 31st December of the same year.

Fellowship

• The selected candidates, who have passed the JRF examination conducted by CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/AYUSH/DST-Inspire can avail of fellowship as per the rules of the respective funding agency. No institute fellowship is available at this stage.
