GGSIPU Admission to PhD Programme 2016-17 (Winter Session)

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University invites applications for admission to PhD Programme (2016-17) winter session are invited in the discipline of Bio-Technology, English, and Education in different University School of Studies (USS).

GGSIPU PhD Admission 2016-17 (Winter Session)

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has announced the commencement of GGSIPU PhD Admission 2017. The PhD Programme is offered in the discipline of Bio- Technology, English, and Education in different University School of Studies (USS)

Eligibility Criteria

An applicant possessing any one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission to PhD Programme in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University

(1) Minimum Eligibility for admission shall be a Master’s Degree (M.Sc./M.A./M.Tech./M.Ed.) OR a post graduate degree approved by Association of Indian Universities/AICTE/ UGC/ NCTE/ or any other equivalent qualification in the relevant field with not less than 55% marks, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST and persons with disability, or as prescribed by UGC from time to time

The ‘equivalent’ qualifications and ‘relevant’ field for admission to PhD in a particular School/discipline shall be verified and certified by the PhD admission committee of the concerned School/discipline at the time of the interview

Candidates must appear in a written entrance exam conducted by the University. Based on the performance in the written test, the list of candidates shortlisted by the PhD admission committee to appear in the interview for admission to PhD shall be displayed on the University website by the Dean of the concerned School

(2) Candidates who have cleared a national level examination like CSIR/UGC-NET-JRF/Lecturership, DBTJRF, ICMR-JRF, or equivalent fellowship shall be deemed to have qualified the

University’s written test and can appear directly for interview. Candidates who have appeared in the above examinations but are awaiting results may also apply. However, they shall be required to produce a valid documentary evidence of having qualified the examination during the interview for PhD admission

Candidates who have already initiated their fellowships in some other institutions and are interested to have their fellowships transferred to GGSIP University may also apply, provided the period of available fellowship is at least 4 years

(3) Foreign nationals who possess the educational qualifications as detailed in sl. no. (1) above, shall apply to the Director of International Affairs on a prescribed proforma, along with the application fee, translated and attested copies of certificates, passport and documents regarding curriculum and marks obtained in the qualifying exam, statement of purpose, research compatibility, financial support, language competency etc.. Candidates will be shortlisted based on the criteria decided by the SRC of the concerned school

(4) Perspective Research Candidate generally should be less than of 55 years of age on 27th Jan 2017. A relaxation in the prescribed age beyond 55 years can, however, be recommended by the SRC/BOS with appropriate justification recorded and for final approval by the Vice-Chancellor

Admission Procedure

Admission Procedure: All the applicants shall have to appear for Research Aptitude Test (RAT) except foreign nationals

RAT examination will comprise of two sections except for University School of Medicine and Para Medical Health Sciences (USMPMHS) as follows:

Section-I: Maximum 200 marks; Duration 1 hour; Type of Test: General Aptitude Test (GAT) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

Section-II: Maximum 400 marks; Duration 2 hours; Type of Test: Subject Specific Test (SST)

Note:
Subject Specific Test will also be of Multiple Choice Questions except for University School of Humanities & Social Sciences (USHSS) in the discipline of English. For USHSS 50% questions will be MCQ type and remaining 50% questions will be subjective type

Duration of test will be 3 hours. Each correct answer of MCQ type question shall be awarded 4 marks and for wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted

How to Apply

All the applicants shall have to appear for Research Aptitude Test (RAT) except forgone national
RAT has to be conducted by GGSIP University. Codes for USS/ Subject Specific Discipline and syllabii for different Subject Specific Tests as given in Annexure-I is available on the University Website www.ipu.ac.in

Last Date for Receipt of Applications 27th January 2017 (Friday up to 04.00 pm)
