Jawaharlal Nehru University JNU Entrance Exam 2017JNU is offering admission in various Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses for the academic year 2017-18. The admissions for MA (Foreign Languages), BA (Hons) 2nd year, M.Phil/PhD., Pre-PhD/PhD, MPH/PhD., M.Sc., M.Tech/PhD, COP & ADOP (Mass Media) for  the year 2017-18 will be made through JNU Entrance Exam 2017.

Jawaharlal Nehru University will hold Entrance Exam in May 2017 for admission to various full-time programs of study at the following 52 cities:

Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawal, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bareilly, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Dehradun, Delhi, Dimapur, Gangtok, Ghaziabad, Coimbatore, Goa, Gorakhpur, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kathihar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pant Nagar, Patna, Pondicherry, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Secunderabad, Shilong, Shimla, Silchar, Siliguri, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam

Eligibility Criteria

(a) Centre for International Politics, Organization & Disarmament: Master’s degree in Political Science, History, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Defence/Strategic Studies, International Relations and Area Studies with at least 50% marks or Master’s degree in Humanities and other Social Sciences with at least 60% marks or Master’s degree in Natural Sciences with at least 65% marks
(b) Centre for International Legal Studies: LLB 3-year degree after Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks or an LLB (5-year) degree with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an MA with International Law as one of the subjects with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an LLM degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate
(c) Centre for International Trade & Development: Master's degree in Economics with at least 50% marks and familiarity with Mathematics and Statistics upto Bachelor’s level
(d) Centre for South Asian Studies, Centre for Indo-Pacific Studies and Centre for Inner Asian Studies: Master’s degree in Political Science, History, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Defence Studies, International Relations & Area Studies with at least 50% marks or Master’s degree in Humanities and other Social Sciences with at least 60% marks or Masters degree in Natural Sciences with at least 65% marks
(e) Canadian and Latin American Studies: Master’s degree in Political Science, History, Economics, Sociology, Defence/Strategic Studies, International Relations and other allied subject in Social Sciences and Humanities with at least 50% marks or Master’s degree in Natural Sciences with at least 60% marks
(f) US Studies: Master’s degree in Political Science, History, Economics, Sociology, Defence/Strategic Studies, International Relations, and Humanities with at least 50% marks
(g) All other Centres: Master’s degree in Political Science, History, Economics, International Relations and Area Studies with at least 50% marks or Master’s degree in Humanities and other Social Sciences with at least 60% marks or Master’s degree in Natural Sciences with at least 65% marks

(B) M.A. in Politics (with specialization in International Studies)
Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks

(C) M.A. in: Economics (with specialization in World Economy)
Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree (with 50% marks in aggregate) in the following subjects: Economics (Honours) with Mathematics as subsidiary subject; Mathematics (Hons.) with Economics as a subsidary subject; or Statistics (Hons) with Mathematics & Economics as subsidiary subjects

  1. School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies

(A) M.Phil/PhD in: French, German, Arabic, Russian, Persian, Chinese, Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Hindi Translation, English, Linguistics, Japanese, Korean and Spanish
Eligibility
(i) M.Phil/Ph.D in Languages/Subjects other than English, Linguistics and Hindi Translation: Master’s degree in the concerned language/subject with at least 50% marks
(ii) M.Phil/PhD in English: Master's Degree in English, Linguistics, Sociology, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Folklore, Film & Communication Studies, Culture Studies, or Comparative Literature with at least 55% marks
(iii)  M.Phil/PhD in Linguistics: Master's Degree in Linguistics or any other discipline with at least 50% marks
(iv) M.Phil/PhD in Hindi Translation: Master's degree in Hindi/Hindi Translation with 50% marks and English or any Indian language as one of the subjects at BA level other than Hindi or Master's degree in any Indian/Foreign language with 50% marks and Hindi as one of the subject at BA level
(B) M.Phil in Portuguese
Eligibility: Master's degree in Portuguese with at least 50% marks or Master's degree in any other Romance Language (Italian, Spanish, French, Romanian) or in English with atleast 50% marks and an Advanced Diploma in Portuguese with atleast 50% marks
(c) M.A. Courses in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Linguistics, Persian, Russian, Spanish and Urdu
Eligibility
(i) M.A. in English and Linguistics: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks
(ii) M.A. in German: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks with adequate proficiency in German
(iii) Other than English, Linguistics and German: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks with adequate proficiency in the concerned language

    Eligibility: M.Sc Degree or equivalent in any branch of basic or Applied Science, MBBS, or B.Tech/BE with minimum 55% marks
    (B) M.Sc in Environmental Sciences: An Interdisciplinary Course with Environmental Orientation, Drawn from relevant areas of Biological, Chemical, Earth and Physical Sciences
    Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of basic or Applied Science under 10+2+3 pattern of Education with at least 55% marks
    VI. School of Computer and Systems Sciences
    (A) M.Phil/PhD and M.Tech/Ph.D
    Eligibility: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Operational Research or in any branch of Science or Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering or Master of Computer Applications (MCA) with at least 55% marks
    (B) MCA (Master of Computer Applications)
    Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with adequate competence in Mathematics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks
    (C) PhD under the Visvesvaraya Fellowship Scheme for Electronics & IT
    Eligibility: A candidates should have M.Tech/M.Phil/M.E degree in Computer Science/IT/Electronic
    VII. School of Physical Sciences
    (A) Pre-Ph.D/Ph.D in Physical Sciences/ Chemical Sciences/ Mathematical Sciences
    Eligibility
    (a) For Physical Sciences: M.Sc degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, with at least 55% marks; candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had Mathematics at least up to the B.Sc level
    (b) For Chemical Sciences: M.Sc degree in Chemistry or Physics, with at least 55% marks. Candidates majoring in Chemistry should have specialization in Analytical/Organic/ Inorganic/ Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics/Polymer Chemistry at the Master’s level Admission through entrance exam is kept in abeyance for this year Admissions
    (c) For Mathematical Sciences: M.Sc degree in Mathematics, with at least 55% marks
    (B) M.Sc in Physics
    Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with 55% marks in the aggregate (or in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined), or in Physics Honours; applicants with B.Tech. (Electronics/Electrical/ Mechanical/Computer) degree can also apply
    VIII. School of Arts & Aesthetics
    (A) M.Phil/PhD.: The School offers M.Phil/Ph.D Programs  in three different streams - Visual Studies, Theatre and Performance Studies and Cinema Studies
    Eligibility: Masters Degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks
    (B) M.A in Arts & Aesthetics: The School offers MA Program with cross-disciplinary study of the Visual, Cinematic and Performing Arts
    Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks

    Eligibility: Master’s degree in Sanskrit or in an allied subject (with Sanskrit up to B.A. level) with at least 55% marks

    Eligibility: Bachelor's Degree in Sanskrit or in any other subject under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks
    XII. Centre for Molecular Medicine
    (A) PRE-Ph.D/PhD in areas of Molecular Medicine related to Metabolic Disorders, Infectious and Non-Infectious Diseases and Diagnostics
    Eligibility: Master’s degrees or equivalent from recognized University /Institution in any branch of Biological Sciences / Chemical Sciences / MBBS/ BVSc/ B.Pharm with at least 55% marks
    (B) Integrated M.Sc-PhD Program in Molecular Medicine
    Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of basic or applied sciences (including MBBS and BVSc.) from recognized Universities and Institutes with at least 55% marks
    XIII. Centre for the Study of Law and Governance
    M.Phil/Ph.D in Law and Governance
    Eligibility: Master’s degree in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Social Work, Development Studies and cognate areas/disciplines in the social sciences or humanities with 55% marks
    Category-B
    Admission of JRF Holders to M.Phil/PhD and Pre-Ph.D/PhD Program in Science Schools
    The University admits a limited number of candidates to M.Phil/Ph.D and Pre-Ph.D/Ph.D Programs on the basis of viva-voce who have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF in Schools of Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer and Systems Sciences, Computational and Integrative Sciences
    Eligibility: Only those candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for admission of candidates to M.Phil/Ph.D and Pre-Ph.D programmes through entrance exam under category-An above in above Science Schools and have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF are eligible to apply
    Category-C (Part Time Program)
    The University will hold Entrance Exam (in Delhi centre only) for admission to Certificate of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu a one-year Part-Time Programs of Study in the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies
    Programs of Study: (i) Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu; (ii) Advanced Diploma of Proficiency in Pushto; (iii) Diploma of Proficiency in Pushto and Bahasa Indonesia; (iv) Certificate of Proficiency in Mongolian, Pushto, Bahasa Indonesia, Urdu and Pali
    Eligibility
    (a) Certificate of Proficiency: Atleast Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate
    (b) Diploma of Proficiency: Atleast Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and Certificate of Proficiency in the Language concerned or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto
    (c) Advanced Diploma of Proficiency: Atleast Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and Diploma of Proficiency in the language concerned or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto
    (d) Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu: A Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate with Urdu as one of the subjects at High School or Intermediate or BA level

Reservation of Seats

For 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non creamy layer), 15% & 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively in all programs of study, 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates (with a minimum of 40% disability).

All SC/ST/Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates who have passed and/or are appearing in the qualifying exam are eligible to appear in the entrance exam irrespective of their percentage of marks

All Kashmiri Migrants & Wards/Widows of certain categories of Defence Personnel will be eligible for deprivation points subject to their submitting a documentary evidence of their status

Tuition Fee/ Scholarship

The Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of the concerned University. Candidates selected for admission are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.

Candidates can apply either Online or Offline

Online Application: Candidates can apply online on payment of prescribed fee if any have access to a Computer, a printer and Internet by logging on to JNU website www.jnu.ac.in

Offline Application: Set of Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained through Post by sending Crossed Bank Draft for Rs.300/- favour of "Jawaharlal Nehru University", payable at New Delhi along with a self-addressed (unstamped) envelope of minimum size of 30 cms x 25 cms clearly indicating the program of study for which the Application Form is required to the self-addressed envelope to the Section Officer (Admissions), Room No. 28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067

Candidates seeking a set of Application Form and Prospectus from Nepal are required to send a Demand Draft of Rs.400/- or equivalent in US Dollars.

BPL cardholders will be issued a set of application form and prospectus free of cost on submission of a copy of the valid BPL card issued by the competent authority showing their name in the card
There is a different application form for each category (Category-A and Category-C) (admission through entrance exam) and Category-B (admission of JRF holders)
For admission through Entrance Exam under Category-A and Certificate of Proficiency (Part-time Program) under Category-C, Candidates can opt upto a maximum of three Fields of Study in a single application form for the same level of Programs (COP-Part-Time) or;

BA (Hons) (1st year) or MA/M.Sc/MCA or M.Phil/PhD, Pre-PhD/PhD, M.Tech/PhD, MPH/ PhD, and are not required to submit separate application forms for each field of study

In case a candidate submits more than one application form for the same level of programs of study, his/her candidature will be rejected
