University of Calcutta PhD in History Admission 2019 – Department of History University of Calcutta (Kolkata) has invited applications for admission to Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in History Programme for the Session 2019-20.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Those candidates who have already passed U.G.C/ ( JRF) Examinations/NET/ SET examinations, and those who have M. Phil degrees from recognized Universities, need not appear at the written examination and can directly apply to appear at the interview.

 

Selection Procedure

  • Applicants will be selected based on written test score and personal interview conducted by the university.
  • The eligible candidate will have to appear in a written examination of two hours duration to be held in the Department on 23rd September 2019 at 02.00 pm.
  • The final selection for joining this programme will be on the basis of the interview and evaluation of the research proposal.

  • Recent Trends in Historical / Interdisciplinary Research
  • Your Proposed Area of research

Application Procedure

  • Candidates should apply in the prescribed proforma downloaded from the University website www.caluniv.ac.in and the filled in form should be submitted to the Head, Department of History (4th Floor, 1 Reformatory Street, Kolkata 700027) after payment of Rs 100 at the CU cash counter.
  • The list of successful candidates will be displayed in the Notice Board of the Department on 16th October 2019. They will have to appear in an interview, the date of which will be notified on the Departmental Notice Board.
  • The research proposals not exceeding 1000 words should be submitted in the Departmental Office on or before 25th October 2019.
  • All employed candidates are requested to submit a no objection certificate from their employers on or before 25th October 2019.
  • The allocation of supervisors will be on the basis of this interview and research proposals. {See CU Website for the areas of research in the Department}.
