NIFT PhD Admission 2021 Important Dates
- Admission Guidelines on NIFT Website :- 01st April 2021
- Submission of Online Application starts from :- 01st April 2021
- Last date for Submission of Application forms :- 02nd May 2021
- Receipt of printed Application form along with self-attested supporting documents on or before – 10th May 2021
- Updation of Application status for eligibility :- 1st week of June 2021
- Release of admit cards :- 02nd week of June, 2021
- Date of Written test :- 26th June, 2021
- Announcement of written test on NIFT website :- 01st week of July, 2021
- Research Proposal Presentation and Interview :- 03rd week of July, 2021
- Announcement of Results :- 4th week of July, 2021
- Registration and payment of fees on or before :- 12th August 2021
- Semester starts :- 16th August 2021
Eligibility Criteria for NIFT PhD Admission 2021
- Post-graduation degree in the relevant area of Design, Management or Technology (or) equivalent qualification from an institute/ university of national/ international repute.
CGPA – Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 on a 10 point scale (5.5 for SC/ST candidates) or equivalent OR 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters)
- Master’s Degree is found to be in a discipline not relevant to the areas identified by NIFT.
CGPA – Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 on a 10 point scale (5.5 for SC/ST candidates) or equivalent OR 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters)
Work Experience – 10 years of professional experience (teaching/ working) in the proposed area of research.
- Bachelor’s degree in the relevant area of Design, Management or Technology (or) equivalent qualification from an institute/ university of national/ international repute.
CGPA – Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 8.0 on a 10 point scale (7.5 for SC/ST candidates). Equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 75% (70% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded
Work Experience – 10 years of professional experience (teaching/ working) in the proposed area of research.
NIFT PhD Admission 2021 Application Process
- Candidates must apply online at the website https://applyadmission & net/nift2021phd.
- Candidate has to dispatch the printed Application Form along with the supporting documents duly attached, to – DD (Admission), NIFT – Head Office, Hauz Khas, New Delhi-110 016
- Applicants should follow the prescribed procedure step by step for online submission of application. Candidates should scan and upload photo copies of required certificates wherever asked for. The Application fee has to be paid through online net banking.
Application Fee
- Non-Refundable Fee for General/OBC (Non-Creamy) Category: Rs. 2300/-
- Non-Refundable Fee for SC/ST/PWD Category: Rs. 1300/-

Selection Process
- Selection will be based on written test & Interview
Exemptions from Written Test
- PG degree Applicants with minimum 10 years of professional experience (teaching/ working) in the areas of research relevant to NIFT.
- Masters degree holders who have a minimum 10 years of experience and have cleared are hold a valid score UGC NET, CEED, CSIR (JRF) similar tests will be exempted from written test.
