Wildlife Institute of India M.Sc.in Wildlife Science (2017-2019)

The Wildlife Institute of India (www.wii.gov.in) invites applications from eligible Indian and foreign candidates having passion for its prestigious 2 year Master’s Degree Programme in Wildlife Science for the Year 2017-19

Intake of Course

Total intake for the course is 20 students (15 Indian and 5 foreign nationals)

The Institute will provide scholarships to eight Indian students based on their selection merit.  The scholarship covers academic fee, hostel accommodation fee and a monthly stipend

The course is open to both Indian and foreign nationals

Wildlife Institute of India Admission Eligibility

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Medical Science, Engineering, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Forestry, Pharmacy, Social Science and Computer Science or degrees recognized as equivalent thereof (should have studied in Science stream at Higher Secondary Education Board with Biology as one of the subjects or other equivalent board)

Minimum of 15 years of formal education (either 10+2+3 or 11+2+2)

Candidates who have completed the graduation degree in any of the above disciplines with a pass certificate

Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying (final) bachelor’s degree exam and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose examinations have been delayed may also apply

However, they need to provide their Graduation Pass Certificate prior to the registration in the course at Saurashtra University, tentatively by 01st August 2017, failing which the admission will stand cancelled

The OBC candidates who belong to “Creamy Layer” are not entitled for concessions admissible (Age relaxation and Scholarship) to OBC category and have to apply as General candidates. The OBC (Non- Creamy Layer) candidates are required to submit requisite certificate in prescribed format (Annexure 1) of Govt. of India

Foreign nationals who do not have English as their native language should provide evidence of proficiency in English (TOEFL score) for admission to this course

The TOEFL or IELTS score reports should not be more than two years since taking the test to submission of the application

A minimum TOEFL score of 213 (computer based), 550 (paper based), or 79 (internet based), or minimum of 6.0 IELTS score is required

Candidates with bachelor’s degree from universities outside India should obtain certificates of equivalence from the Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, AIU House 16, Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg, New Delhi-110002 or email to administration@aiuweb.org

Age Limit

The age limit is 25 years as on 01st July 2017 with relaxation of 5 years for reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC)

For the in-service candidates working in Forest and Wildlife Departments, the age limit is 35 years as on 01st July 2017

Wildlife Institute of India MSc Selection Procedure

Eligible candidates will be required to appear for a written NET in any one of the centres Bengaluru, Dehra Dun, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Guwahati

The NET will be for 2.5 hours

The test will have 30 marks multiple choice questions on General Awareness including Current affairs, Quantitative Skills, Geology, Geography, Sociology, Economics and Engineering
40 marks multiple choice questions in wildlife sciences including natural history, biogeography, ecology, genetics, vegetation science, population ecology, habitat ecology, behavioural ecology, conservation biology, wildlife health
30 marks essay questions covering conservation issues

Shortlisted meritorious candidates based on NET screening will be called to take a personality and aptitude test (PAT) at Dehra Dun

Final selection to the course will be made on the basis of combined merit of 50% marks obtained in the bachelor’s degree examination and 50% of PAT

Admit Card

The admit card for entrance examination will be sent to the candidates by speed post

Course Fee

The Course Fee for the entire course is: Indian Nationals - INR 532800; SAARC Nationals - US $ 13200; Other Nationals - US $ 14400; the Institute provides full scholarship to eight Indian students based on their selection merit
The scholarship covers academic fee, hostel accommodation fee and a monthly stipend

The breakup of the scholarships for Indian nationals will be: General-04; SC-01; ST-01 and OBC-02; other candidates (Indian and Foreign) selected for the course will be treated as self-sponsored

Wildlife Institute of India MSc Application Procedure

The entire process for registration and NET is Online. Details for online registration and NET are likely to appear on the WII’s website (https://bit.ly/2hENjYp) latest by 01st March 2017

Interested candidates/applicants are advised to regularly check WII’s website for latest updates and link for online registration. The online registration process will be open w.e.f 02nd March 2017 to 15th April 2017

All eligible candidates are advised to follow the latest updates on the WII’s website (https://bit.ly/2hENjYp) for online registration of applicants, submission of application and payment of application processing fee, etc

Candidates will make the payment of application processing fee (Rs.1000/- only) through the prescribed "Payment Gateway"

All eligible foreign candidates are required to pay an application-processing fee of US$ 200 or equivalent. However, SAARC nationals are required to pay US$ 100 or equivalent
