University of Calicut B.Ed Admission 2019 - Online applications are invited for admission to B.Ed. programme (Two years – 4 semesters) for the academic year 2019-2021 in Government Colleges/Aided Colleges/ University Teacher Education Centres/Unaided Colleges affiliated to University of Calicut.

B.Ed. Courses

  • B.Ed. Programs including Optional subjects in Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Computer Science, Social Science, Commerce, Arabic, English, Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam and Sanskrit
  • The administrative and academic activities of the B.Ed. Centres are under the supervision of the Chief Co-ordinator of Calicut University Teacher Education Centres. The Program extends for a period of two year (four semesters)

Institutions and Categorization of Seats

  • University of Calicut has 73 colleges (2 Govt. Colleges, 2 Aided Colleges, 1 College of Teacher Education in Lakshadweep, 11 University Teacher Education Centres and 57 Self Financing Colleges).
  • Management seats in Aided and Unaided colleges are to be filled with qualified eligible candidates by the management concerned as per the norms issued by the Government of Kerala.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Calicut B.Ed Admission 2019


Academic Qualification

  • B.A/B.Sc. Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto under 10+2+3 pattern with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together / 50% Marks for Part-III alone or Masters Degree in the same subject with minimum 50% marks or 10+2+5 pattern for Integrated M.Sc. Course or 10+2+3+2 pattern for M.Com. However 10+2+3 Pattern is not insisted for B.A/B.Sc degree holders under liberalized scheme of the University of Calicut.
  • Bachelor's in Engineering or Bachelor's in Technology with 55% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for B.Ed programme in Physical Science and Mathematics optionals.
  • Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from other Universities outside Kerala should submit/produce Equivalency Certificate issued by the University of Calicut stating that their qualifying examination is recognised as equivalent to University of Calicut for their admission in B.Ed. course at the time of admission.

Relaxation in Marks

  • SC/ST candidates including natives of Lakshadweep and candidates under Teacher Quota need only a pass in the qualifying examination. Relaxation of 5% marks for OBC, SEBC and OEC candidates will be allowed to the minimum required marks.
  • Blind candidates will be given 5% concession in aggregate marks.
  • Age limit: There is no upper age limit for admission to B.Ed. Courses.
  • Nativity: Admission to B.Ed. Programme will be given only to Keralites but non-Keralite candidates also can be admitted to a maximum of 10% of the management quota seats in Private Self financing colleges

  • English: BA Degree with English language and Literature/Functional English/Communicative English with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together / 50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A degree with English language and Literature/Functional English/Communicative English with Master's Degree in English Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks or with B.A/B.Sc with 50% marks for Part I English and Master's Degree in English Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks. B.A English Honours Degree from Central Universities or State Universities with 50 % marks recognised by UG
  • Malayalam: BA Degree with Malayalam Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A Degree with Malayalam Language and Literature with Master's Degree in Malayalam Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks or B.A/B.Sc with 50% of mark for Part II Malayalam and Master's Degree in Malayalam Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Hindi: B.A Degree with Hindi Language and Literature/Functional Hindi with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A Degree with Hindi language and Literature/Functional Hindi with Master's Degree in Hindi Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Hindi and Master's Degree in Hindi Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks.
  • Arabic: B.A Degree with Arabic Language and Literature/ B.A Afzal-Ul-Ulama /B.A Functional Arabic with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone/B.A Arabic and Islamic History Double Main marks in aggregate 50 % or B.A Degree with Arabic Language and Literature with Master's Degree in Arabic Language and Literature/Post Afzal-Ul-Ulama with not less than 50% marks or B.A/B.Sc with 50% marks for Part II Arabic and Master's Degree in Arabic Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks.
  • Tamil: B.A Degree with Tamil Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A Degree with Tamil Language and Literature with Master's Degree in Tamil Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks or B.A/B.Sc. With 50% of marks for Part II Tamil and Master's Degree in Tamil Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks.
  • Sanskrit: B.A Degree with Sanskrit Language and Literature/ B.A Sanskrit special- Vedanda, Nyaya, Vyakarana with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A Degree with Sanskrit Language and Literature/ Sanksrit special Vedanda, Nyaya, Vyakarana with Master's Degree in Sanskrit Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks or B.A/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Sanskrit and Master's Degree in Sanskrit Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks.
  • Urdu: B.A. Degree with Urdu Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A. Degree with Urdu Language and Literature with Master’s Degree in Urdu Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks.

Other Optionals

  • Mathematics: B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Statistics as main with 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or M. Sc Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Statistics with 50% marks. Candidates with Statistics/Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects. Bachelor's in Engineering or Bachelor's in Technology with 55% marks.
  • Physical Science: B.Sc. Degree with Physics/Physics with computer application/B.Sc. Chemistry/B.Sc. Chemistry with Maths and Computer Application/B.Sc Polymer Chemistry/B.Sc. Geology/B.Sc. Petrochemicals/ B.Sc. Bio Chemistry/ B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry/B.Sc. Bio Physcis/B.Sc. Applied Physics main with 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or M.Sc. Degree with Physics/ Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/Geology/Petrochemicals/Biochemistry /Industrial Chemistry/ Biophysics/ Applied Physics with 50% marks or M.Sc Photonics (integrated) from CUSAT with 50% marks.
  • Natural Science: B.Sc. Degree with Botany/Zoology/ Biochemistry/B.Sc. Plant Science/Home Science with Zoology or Botany as subsidiary/B.Sc. Family and Community Science with Zoology or Botany as subsidiary/Aquaculture with Biochemistry and Zoology as Subsidiaries/Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Food Technology/Genetics with 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or M.Sc Degree with Botany/Zoology/ Biochemistry/Plant Science/ Home Science/ Family & Community Science/ Aquaculture/Biotechnology/Micro biology/Food Technology/Genetics with 50% marks or B.Sc Agriculture with Bio-Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries with 50% marks.
  • Social Science: B. A. Degree with History/Islamic History/ Arabic and Islamic History double main with 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A/B.Sc. Degree with Geography/Politics/Economics /Economics with Developmental Economics/Economics with Foreign Trade/Economics with Islamic Finance/Sociology/Psychology/ Philosophy/West Asian Studies/B.A. Public Administration under part III and 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or M.A/M.Sc. Degree in History/Islamic History/Geography/ Politics/ Economics/Sociology/ Psychology/ Philosophy/ West Asian Studies/Public Administration with 50% marks.
  • Commerce: Candidates who have secured M.Com Degree with not less than 50% marks/MBA with 55% marks in aggregate/equivalent grade are eligible for admission to the B. Ed. Course in Commerce. Such candidates are not eligible for admission to any other optional subject.
  • Computer Science: MCA/M. Sc. Computer Science/M. Sc. Electronics with a minimum of 50% marks.

Reservation of Seats

  • Out of the total Merit seats available for various B.Ed. Courses, seats will be reserved for different categories under the following main items: (a) Reservation for nominees, (b) Reservation for Persons with Disabilities, (c) Special Reservation, (d) Mandatory Reservation.

University of Calicut B.Ed Admission 2019 Selection Procedure

  • Selection is made based on the aggregate marks/grade obtained by the applicants in the Degree Examination. This mark/grade will be converted in to 1000. In the case of Commerce/Computer Science optional the marks/grade of P.G. Examination will be considered. A reduction of 1 % of the index mark for every repeated chance will be made.
  • Special Weightage will be given to post-graduation in the subject concerned, first class-5, second class-3 and third class-1 (not applicable for Commerce and Computer Science optional). No weightage will be given to post graduate qualification if it is in subjects other than the optional chosen for B. Ed Course.
  • Candidates who belong to the area under the jurisdiction of the University of Calicut will be given a weightage of 15 marks scored by the candidate in their Degree examinations concerned. Such candidates should produce a nativity certificate issued by the Village Officer/Tahasildar.

University of Calicut B.Ed Admission 2019 Application Procedure

  • Candidates are directed to download Application Form & Prospectus from the website www.cuonline.ac.in
  • All candidates seeking admission to B.Ed programmes including (General merit/Reservation/ Teacher Quota/Sports/Defence/Persons with disabilities/Linguistic minority/Community/ Management etc) should register through Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
  • The candidates who have not registered through CAP will not be permitted for admission at any stage of the admission process.

  • The online registration through centralized admission process will be conducted in Single stage.
