University of Calicut B.Ed Admissions 2018 - Online applications are invited for admissions to B.Ed. Course (Two years - 4 semesters) for the academic year 2018-20 in the Govt. Colleges/Aided Colleges/University Teacher Education Centres/Unaided Colleges affiliated to University of Calicut

B.Ed. Courses

  • B.Ed. Programs including Optional subjects in Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Computer Science, Social Science, Commerce, Arabic, English, Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam and Sanskrit
  • The administrative and academic activities of the B.Ed. Centres are under the supervision of the Chief Co-ordinator of Calicut University Teacher Education Centres. The Program extends for a period of two year/four semesters

  • Commencement of Online Registration: 30th May 2018
  • Closing Date of Fee payment: 13th June 2018

  • Forwarding of rank list of registered students under General Category and Community Quota to the colleges: 22nd June 2018
  • Publication of rank list by the colleges on notice board and college website as well as in admission website of the University: 22nd June 2018

Institutions of Seats

  • University of Calicut has 71 Colleges (02 Govt. Colleges, 2 Aided Colleges, 1 College of Teacher Education in Lakshadweep, 11 University Teacher Education Centres and 55 Self Financing Colleges)
  • Management Seats in Aided &Unaided colleges are to be filled with qualified eligible candidates by the management concerned as per the norms issued by the Govt. of Kerala

 

Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

  • Candidates who have passed BA/B.Sc degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto under 10+2+3 pattern with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or Masters Degree in the same subject with minimum 50% marks or 10+2+5 pattern for Integrated M.Sc. Course or 10+2+3+2 pattern for M.Com
  • However, 10+2+3 Pattern is not insisted for B.A/B.Sc Degree holders under liberalized scheme of the University of Calicut
  • Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks are eligible
  • Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from other Universities outside Kerala should submit Equivalency Certificate stating that their qualifying exam is recognized by the
  • Calicut University, for seeking admission to B.Ed Degree course in a particular optional subject, along with their application

Relaxation in Marks

  • SC/ST candidates including natives of Lakshadweep and candidates under Teacher Quota need only a pass in the Qualifying Exam. Relaxation of 5% marks for OBC, SEBC and OEC candidates will be allowed to the minimum required marks
  • Blind Candidates will be given 5% concession in aggregate marks

Age Limit

  • There is no upper age limit for admission to B.Ed Courses
  • Nativity: The B.Ed Program will be given only to Keralites but non-Keralite candidates also can be admitted to a maximum of 10% of the management quota seats in Private Self financing Colleges

Eligibility for Different Optional Subjects:
I. Languages

  • English: BA Degree with English language and Literature/Functional English/Communicative English with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or BA Degree with English Language and Literature/Functional English/Communicative English with Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Part I English & Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Malayalam: BA Degree with Malayalam Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A. Degree with Malayalam Language and Literature with Master’s Degree in Malayalam Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Hindi: BA Degree with Hindi Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or BA Degree with Hindi language and Literature with Master’s Degree in Hindi Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Arabic: BA Degree with Arabic Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/ 50% Marks for Part-III alone/BA Arabic and Islamic History Double Main marks in aggregate or BA Degree with Arabic Language and Literature with Master’s Degree in Arabic Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part-II Arabic
  • Tamil: BA Degree with Tamil Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or BA Degree with Tamil Language and Literature with Master’s Degree in Tamil Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks or BA/B.Sc with 50% of marks for Part II Tamil and Master’s Degree in Tamil Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Sanskrit: BA Degree with Sanskrit Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/ 50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A. Degree with Sanskrit Language and Literature with Master’s Degree in Sanskrit Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Urdu: B.A. Degree with Urdu Language and Literature with 50% marks in Part-I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A. Degree with Urdu Language and Literature with Master’s Degree in Urdu Language and Literature with not less than 50% marks
  • Other Optionals
  • Mathematics: B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Statistics as main with 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/ 50% Marks for Part-III alone or M. Sc Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/ Applied Statistics with 50% marks
  • Candidates with Statistics/Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects. Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks
  • Physical Science: B.Sc. Degree with Physics/Chemistry/ Polymer Chemistry/B.Sc. Geology/ B.Sc. Petrochemicals/B.Sc. Bio Chemistry/ B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry main with 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or M.Sc. Degree with Physics/ Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry /Geology/Petrochemicals/Biochemistry /Industrial Chemistry with 50% marks or M.Sc. Photonics (integrated) from CUSAT with 50% marks
  • Social Science: BA Degree with History/Islamic History/ Arabic and Islamic History double main with 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or B.A/B.Sc. Degree with Geography/Politics/Economics/Sociology/Psychology/ Philosophy/West Asian Studies under part III and 50% marks in Part I+II+III together/50% Marks for Part-III alone or M.A/M.Sc. Degree in History/Islamic History/Geography/ Politics/ Economics/ Sociology/ Psychology/ Philosophy/ West Asian Studies with 50% marks
  • Commerce: Candidates who have secured M.Com Degree with not less than 50% marks alone are eligible for admission to the B. Ed. Course in Commerce. Such candidates are not eligible for admission to any other optional subject
  • Computer Science: MCA/M. Sc. Computer Science/M. Sc. Electronics with a minimum of 50% marks

 

Reservation of Seats

  • Out of the total Merit seats available for various B.Ed Courses, seats will be reserved for different categories under the following main items: (a) Reservation for nominees; (b) Reservation for Persons with Disabilities; (c) Special Reservation; and (d) Mandatory Reservation

 

Selection Criteria

  • Selection is made based on the marks/grade obtained by the applicant in the Degree Exam in aggregate/Part -III
  • This mark/grade will be converted in to 1000. In the case of Commerce/Computer Science optional the marks/grade of PG Exam will be considered. A reduction of 1 % of the index mark for every repeated chance will be made
  • Special Weightage will be given to post-graduation in the subject concerned, first class-5, second class-3 and third class-1 (not applicable for Commerce and Computer Science optional). No weightage will be given to post graduate qualification if it is in subjects other than the optional chosen for B.Ed Course
  • Candidates who belong to the area under the jurisdiction of the University of Calicut will be given a weightage of 15 marks scored by the candidate in their Degree Exams concerned. Such candidates should produce a nativity certificate issued by the Village Officer/Tahasildar

 

Application Procedure

  • Candidates are directed to download Application Form & Prospectus from the Website www.universityofcalicut.info and fill up the application carefully after reading the Prospectus
  • All candidates seeking admission to B.Ed Programs including (General merit/Reservation/Teacher Quota/Sports/Persons with disabilities /Kashmir students/Linguistic minority/Community/ Management etc) should register through Centralized Admission Process (CAP)
  • Candidates who have not registered through CAP will not be permitted for admission at any stage of the admission process

Mode of Registration

  • The online registration through centralized admission process will be conducted in Single Stage

Payment of Online Registration Fee

Payment of fee for online registration can be made only through e-payment system (SBI online/SBI echalan/ nodal centres functioning in affiliated colleges/payment gateway system/ Friends Janasevana Kendram Akshayakendras)
