SCTIMST MPH and DPH Admission 2019 - Applications are invited for admission to Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree and Diploma in Public Health (DPH) Course at Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies (AMCHSS) for the academic year 2019-20.


About the AMCHSS

  • AMCHSS, the Public Health & Health Sciences Wing of SCTIMST is devoted to Public Health, and Social Sciences in relation to health care and development
  • It started the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program in January 1997, PhD Program in 2003 and Diploma in Public Health (DPH) in 2005
  • Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India has accepted this centre as a ‘Centre of Excellence for Public Health Training’

  • Admission Notification: 01st March 2019
  • Online application starts: 01st March 2019
  • Online application closes: 31st March 2019
  • Download admit cards: 24th April 2019
  • Date of Written test: 04th May 2019 (reporting time 08.30am)
  • Date of interview: 04th May 2019 (11.30 am onwards)
  • Commencement of course: 01st July 2019


SCTIMST MPH and DPH Course details and Eligibility Criteria for Admission 2019

I. Master of Public Health (MPH)
The objectives of the Master of Public Health Program are to provide a broad understanding of the core areas of public health and related disciplines; to help acquire knowledge and skills to analyze health situations and help devise appropriate policies and programs in a cost-effective manner; to inculcate interdisciplinary approach to problem solving skills in public health
Duration of MPH Course

  • This is a 24-month full time residential program commencing on the 1st of July every year

No. of Seats

  • Total 25 (Open 13, SC/ST 5 and OBC 7)


Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Educational Qualifications
Medical Graduates (MBBS), Dental Graduates (BDS), Graduates of AYUSH (BAMS, BNYS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS], BTech or BE (Any Branch) and graduates of four-year degree programs in Veterinary Sciences, Nursing sciences, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, or students with a postgraduate degree in Statistics/Biostatistics, Demography, Population Studies, Nutrition, Sociology, Economics, Psychology, Anthropology, Social Work, Mgt. or Law may apply
Work Experience in a Health- related field is desirable

Age Limit

  • Age 40 years as on 01st July 2019.Age relaxation may be given in exceptional cases.

Selection Process

  • Indian Students - Prospective candidates will be evaluated on the basis of educational qualifications, professional experience relevant to the field of public health, written test (multiple choice questions) and interview
  • Overseas Students - Selection will be based on educational qualifications, professional experience, assessments made by the sponsoring organizations and a telephonic interview

Candidate needs to indicate the order of their preference for all exam centres
Scholarship for MPH Students

  • Top three will be given total fee waiver and a monthly stipend of Rs.5000/-, and the next two students will be given total fee waiver only
  • Stipend will be continued subject to performance in the program

II. Diploma in Public Health (DPH)
This is envisaged to provide capacity building in public health for doctors working with various State or Central Govt. Depts. or Agencies.

Duration of DPH Course:

  • One-Year (July 2019 to June 2020)

Minimum Experience required:

  • 3 years in Government service after MBBS

Age Limit:

  • Up to 50 years as on 01st July 2019

No. of Seats:

  • 10 (open 5, SC/ST2, OBC 3)

Selection Process:
