IIPS Mumbai PG and PhD Admission Eligibility Criteria 2022

  • For Master of Arts/Science in Population Studies (M.A./M.Sc.): Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in India or abroad in any subject with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade in all subjects will be eligible for admission.
  • Age Limit – The upper age limit is 25 years as on June 30, 2022
  • For Master of Science in Biostatistics and Demography (M.B.D.): Candidates having B.A./B.Sc. degree in Biostatistics for Health Statistics or Mathematics or Statistics or having B.A./B.Sc. degree with two full papers on mathematics or statistics from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% (50% for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade in all subjects will be eligible for admission.
  • Age Limit – The upper age limit is 25 years as on June 30, 2022
  • For Master of Population Studies (M.P.S.): Candidates having M.A./M.Sc. degree from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% (50%for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade in the subjects, Anthropology, Biostatistics, Development Studies, Economics, Geography, Health Statistics, Mathematics, Population Studies, Political Science, Population Education, Psychology, Rural Development, Social Work, Sociology, and Statistics will be eligible for admission. OR if the applicant has other Master’s degrees (other than the 15 subjects mentioned above) and at least 2 years of experience in Population and Health-related fields.
  • Age Limit – The upper age limit is 28 years as on June 30, 2022
  • For Ph.D. in Population Studies/Biostatistics & Demography: Candidates having M.Phil. in Population Studies, M.Phil in Biostatistics & Demography, Master of Population Studies (MPS), MA/MSc in Population Studies, M.Sc in Biostatistics & Demography from a recognized university with at least 55% (50% for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade are eligible to apply. Students who have qualified UGC/CSIR-JRF or any other national-level fellowship are encouraged to apply for this program. 
  • Age Limit – The upper age limit is 30 years as on June 30, 2022
  • For Part-Time Ph.D Program: The part-time Ph.D. program shall be open to candidates with a Master’s degree and at least five years of work experience after a Master’s degree in the field of Population Studies/ Demography/Public Health in academic institutions/central and state (Refer footnote) work) governments/research and development organizations, who are unable to pursue the doctoral program in full-time mode
  • Age Limit – No age limit
  • For Post-Doctoral Fellowship (P.D.F.): Candidates having PhD degree in Population Studies or related areas such as Health, Gender, Development, and Social Sciences.
  • Age Limit – The upper age limit is 40 years as on June 30, 2022
  • Note – Candidates who have already passed the qualifying examinations and those who have already appeared/ shall be appearing in the final qualifying exams inations are eligible to apply

 

IIPS Mumbai PG and PhD Admission Application Process 2022

  • Eligible candidates can apply online through the IIPS website https://www.iipsindia.ac.in/
  • All eligible candidates are required to register online by visiting the Institute’s website www.iipsindia.ac.in during February 07, 2022 to March 30, 2022.
  • PG & PhD Candidates are required to send a hard copy of the online application form and all supporting documents to “The In-charge, Academic Section, International Institute for Population Sciences, Govandi Station Road, Deonar, Mumbai – 400088” on or before March 24, 2022. 

 

Application Fee

  • For General Category – Rs. 1000/-
  • For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and EWS Category – Rs. 500/- 
  • For SC/ST/PWD Category – Rs. 250/-
  • Mode of Payment: Online through Credit card/Debit card/Net Banking

 

Selection Procedure

  • For MA/M.Sc & MBD Programs: Selection will be made on the basis of an Online Entrance Test across India. The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices.
  • For MPS Program: Selection will be made on the basis of a common online entrance test and personal interview.
  • For PhD in Population Studies/Biostatistics & Demography Programs: The selection will be made on the basis of a common online entrance test, proposal writing and personal interview 
  • For Part-Time Ph.D Program: The selection will be made on Offline Written Test and Personal Interview.
  • For PDF Program: The selection will be based on Presentation of Research Proposal as well as personal interview

 

Fellowships

  • Government of India Fellowships @ Rs. 31,000/- per month for 1st and 2nd years and Rs. 35,000/- per month for 3rd and 4th years available for the Indian students who have qualified NET for Lectureship in Population Studies or its inter-disciplinary subjects conducted by the UGC
  • Such Ph.D. fellowship also carries a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- per year for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year.
