  1. Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) is a premier Science and Technology Institute established in 2019 under the mentorship of IIT Bombay. The institute is set up with the objective of making available facilities for higher education, research and training in various fields of Science and Technology.

Eligibility Criteria for IIT Dharwad PhD Admission 2019-20

Department of Computer Science and Engineering

  1. M.Tech. or equivalent degree in Computer Science and Engineering or any related stream.

 

Minimum score in the qualifying degree.

  1. For General/OBC category candidates and/or for candidates where no concession in academic performance is called for, the eligibility criteria in the qualifying degree (M.Tech./M.E.) is EITHER
  2. First Class as specified by the University OR the marks/grade obtained in the qualifying degree should satisfy any of the following two criteria:
    1. a minimum of 60% marks (without round off) in aggregate, OR,
    2. a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or Cumulative Performance  Index (CPI) of 6.0 on the scale of 0-10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 0-10, (for example, 4.8 on a scale of 0-8).
  3. For SC/ST category candidates and differently abled candidates (PwD), a relaxation of 5% (orCPI/CGPA of 0.5 on the scale of 0-10) in the qualifying degree is applicable.

 

Department of Electrical Engineering

  1. M.Tech./M.E. or equivalent degree, with good academic records, in the relevant specializations (to the candidate’s preferred area of research) of either, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and (Tele) Communication engineering, Computer Science Engineering, and Instrumentation and Control Engineering or equivalent specializations.

 

Minimum Score in the Qualifying Degree

  1. For General/OBC category candidates and/or for candidates where no concession in academic performance is called for, the eligibility criteria in the qualifying degree Tech./M.E. or equivalent) is First Class as specified by the university. If the University doesn’t specify the division/class, then either:
  2. A minimum of 60% marks (without rounding off) in aggregate. A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.0 on the scale of 0-10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 0-10, (for example, 4.8 on a scale of 0-8).

Department of Mechanical Engineering

  1. M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.(Engg.) or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent stream.

 

Minimum Score in the Qualifying Degree

  1. For General/OBC category candidates and/or for candidates here no concession in academic performance is called for, the eligibility criteria in the qualifying degree Tech./M.E./M.Sc.- Engineering) is a First Class as specified by the University. If the University doesn’t specify the division/class, the neither:
  2. a minimum of 60% marks (without rounding off) in aggregate.
  3. a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.0 on the scale of 0-10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 0-10, (for example, 4.8 on a scale of 0-8). For SC/ST category candidates, there is a relaxation by 5% in the aggregate in the qualifying degree.

Selection Procedure

  1. The selection process consists of a screening test followed by interview(s), The screening test will either be online or written and will consist of multiple choice questions.

  1. Please read the instructions given in the brochure carefully before filling up the application form. You are required to submit an application Online. No downloadable forms are available. Candidate can apply Online Application Form the University website http://www.iitdh.ac.in/academics_phd.php
  2. Candidates are advised to read all the instructions given in the information brochure available on the Institute website carefully before filling up the application form.  

 

Application Fee

  1. The fee is to be paid by NEFT/RTGS Online Payment System. The details of the institute bank details are:

BANK: State Bank of India, Account Name: IIT Bombay (IIT Dharwad), Account No.: 35636327083, Branch: I.I.T. (Powai), IFSC: SBIN0001109, MICR: 400002034. The transaction details like: UTR/ITR/Transaction Number with date are to be necessarily provided in filling up the Online Application Form. The Application Form without valid online payment details will not be considered.

  • Women candidates : Rs. 100/-
  • SC/ST/PwD category candidates : Rs. 100/-
  • All other candidates : Rs. 200/-
