ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

For Biological Sciences: Candidates having M.Sc. / MS/ME/M. Tech/MVSc/M.Sc. (Ag.) degree (with minimum 55% marks) in: Any branch of biological sciences to pursue research in the broad fields of cellular and  molecular biology, cancer biology, developmental biology, structural biology, plant molecular biology, behavioural biology and ecology, marine biology, neurobiology, biodiversity, microbiology, biophysics, bioinformatics, biotechnology and theoretical biology

Candidates from agricultural science and nutritional science backgrounds are also welcome to apply

 

For Chemistry: M.Sc./M.Tech. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject). Mathematics in the 10+2 level is desirable

National level examination like National Eligibility Test (NET)/GATE/UGC-JRF/CSIR-JRF/JEST/JGEEBILS/INSPIRE-PhD/NET-LS/Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship or any other recognized score is mandatory. The certificate/fellowship MUST be valid at the time of admission.

 

For Chemical Engineering: ME/M.Tech/MS Degree in the relevant disciplines (such as Chemical Engineering/ Environmental Engineering/ Biotechnology etc.) with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject). If the transcript/grade sheet issued by the Institute/University reports

For Chemical Engineering, valid GATE score is not mandatory. However, the candidates must have qualified GATE examination on or after 2012
Besides, candidates with national level examination or fellowship like National Eligibility Test (NET)/ UGC-JRF/ CSIR-JRF/ INSPIRE-PhD/ NET-LS/ Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship etc. are also eligible to apply

 

For Earth and Environmental Science: Master's (M.Sc.)/M.Tech Degrees in any of the disciplines of Earth Science/Geology/Geophysics/Atmospheric Science/ Oceanography/Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing/ Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics/Chemical, Environmental, Computer and Civil Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject)

In addition to minimum qualification, for all candidates, a National level examination like National Eligibility Test (NET)/CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF/INSPIRE-PhD/GATE/NET-LS/Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship or any other recognized score is mandatory. The certificate/fellowship MUST be valid at the time of admission

 

For Physic: M.Sc./M.Tech. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject). If the transcript/grade sheet issued by the Institute/University reports

Additionally, a valid GATE/UGC-JRF/CSIR-JRF/JEST/INSPIRE-PhD/JGEEBILS or any other recognized score is mandatory. The certificate/fellowship MUST be valid at the time of admission.

 

For Electrical Engineering & Computer Science: M.Tech/ME/MS Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject). If the transcript/grade sheet issued by the Institute/University report

Candidates having a M.Tech./M.E. degree from India must have qualified the GATE exam at the time of taking admission to the M.Tech./M.E. program

Candidates seeking to work in Theoretical Computer Science/Algorithms with a valid JEST score in TCS are also eligible to apply

 

For Humanities & Social Science: M.Sc./M.A. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject). If the transcript/grade sheet issued by the Institute/University

Additionally, a National level examination like National Eligibility Test (NET) / NET-LS / UGC-JRF, or any other recognized score in the relevant discipline is mandatory. The certificate/fellowship MUST be valid at the time of admission

Students whose results for National Eligibility Test (NET)/ NET-LS/UGC-JRF, or any other equivalent fellowship are awaited can also apply with their roll number(s) mentioned in the application. Such candidates may walk-in for the interview provided they have qualified examination for any of the above fellowship before the interview date.

 

Age Limit

Preferably not more than 28 years; age relaxation of 3 years will be given for OBC (Non Creamy Layer) and 5 years for SC/ST/PD/Female applicants
Upper age limit shall be determined as on last date of online submission of applications. Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary Examination Certificate/Aadhar Card only will be accepted by the IISER Bhopal for determining the age

 

Selection Procedure

List of shortlisted candidates (based on merit, subject specialization and required research area) for interview will be published at the IISER-Bhopal website http://apply.iiserb.ac.in
TA will be paid to SC/ST candidates appearing for the interview as per the Government of India norms
