DU M.Ed. Admission 2018 - Delhi University (DU), Faculty of Education invites application form the eligible candidates for Master of Education - M.Ed. Program admission for the academic year 2018-19

Important Dates

  • Online Registration to apply for admission in the M.Ed. Program is from 18th May 2018 to 07th June 2018
  • Date of M.Ed. Entrance Test: 20th June 2018 (Wednesday, Time: 04:00 PM to 6:00 PM)
  • Academic Session for the M.Ed. Program is likely to commence on 20th July 2018

 

Details of M.Ed. Program

  • The University provides many courses through entrance examination and one of them is Masters in Education Program (M.Ed.)
  • It was conceived as a professional program for advanced study of the discipline of Education. From this year onwards, CIE will offer two years full time M.Ed Program
  • It is a full time 2-year course, aspirants who are seeking to take admission in DU M.Ed. Program can apply for M.Ed. through online registration process which is out now on the official website of Delhi University
  • This Program is offered at present at CIE (Department of Education, University of Delhi), as well as at two affiliated colleges of the University of Delhi

The Program is divided into following five components:

  • Research Methods: This will consist of two Courses and a Seminar Course to strengthen the understanding of research
  • Perspective Courses: This will help students to develop knowledge of different areas viewed as critical for education. Broadly, it will reflect areas, for example, philosophical, sociological, psychological, and historical and economic foundations of education
  • Specialization Courses: It will comprise of a list of optional Courses to enhance understanding in a specialized field of study in education; this will include areas, for example, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Science Education, Social Science Education, Language Education, and Curriculum Studies
  • Seminar and Projects

Timings

  • The working hours are from 09.00 am to 05.00 pm (Monday to Saturday)

Program Transaction

  • The M.Ed Program involves lectures, discussions, practicum, student presentations, group work, school-based assignments, sessional tasks and seminars

Medium of Instruction and Exam

  • The medium of instruction for M.Ed. teaching is English. The medium of exam can be either English or Hindi depending upon the student’s choice

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidates seeking admission to the Master of Education Program(M.Ed.) for the Academic session 2018-2019 should have obtained at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the following programs:
  • B.Ed
  • B.A. B.Ed.; B.Sc.B.Ed
  • B.El.Ed
  • D.El.Ed with an Undergraduate Degree (with 50% marks in each)

  • Number of seats for M.Ed Program - 50

 

Selection Procedure

  • Selection to the Program is based on a Written Test of 400 marks. The selection lists will be prepared on the basis of scores obtained in the Written Test
  • The test will be of 2 hours duration. It will contain 100 questions in MCQ format of 4 marks each. There is NEGATIVE MARKING. For each wrong answer ONE mark would be deducted
  • The test will include questions to assess candidates’ understanding of perspectives/ foundational courses, educational theory, issues and concerns in education and their analytical and reflective abilities related to the contemporary Indian education discourses

 

Entrance Exam

  • The Entrance Examination comprises a written test and an interview
  • Written Test on Education - Duration - 2 Hrs. Maximum Marks 40+45 = 85
  • The test will include questions to assess candidates’ understanding of educational theory, their research aptitude and their analytical and reflective abilities related to the contemporary Indian education discourses
  • The test will be divided into two parts. The first will be objective type (40 marks) and will qualify the candidate for the evaluation of the second part, which will include descriptive answer questions (45 marks)
  • Interview - 15 marks
  • The interview will include questions to assess the candidate’s self-expression and also the ability to substantiate arguments related to educational issues

 

Age Requirement

  • As per Delhi University norms, there is no age bar for admission to the M.Ed. program

 

Application Procedure

  • Visit www.cie.du.ac.in and read the Instructions for filling online M.Ed. from given in Appendix of M.Ed. Prospectus. Check your Eligibility according to the Eligibility criteria
  • Visit the Delhi University website www.du.ac.in and register yourself
  • Click apply online link and fill the appropriate form. As requisite information is filled, you reach to the part about payment. Choose mode of payment and fill the details as per your mode of submission of fees
  • Fill the security code carefully; by tracking the box given for compliance for undertaking, the online submission can proceed by click on submit button
  • This step completes the first part of the process and takes the candidate to a different page for completing the second part. Second part is to confirm the data entered in the previous step

 

Registration Fee

Registered candidates have to pay the registration fee mentioned below for each category:

  • For SC/ST/PWD - Rs.250/-
  • For General /OBC and Other Category - Rs.500/-
  • Entrance fee has to be paid by Debit or Credit Card only
  • Visit the Delhi University website and go to Post graduate admission Portal http://admission.du.ac.in/pg2018 and register yourself first
