Amrita University Journalism and Mass Communication Admissions 2019 - Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham also know as Amrita University invites applications for admission to Bachelor of Arts (BA), Master of Arts (MA) in Communication and Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and PhD Programs in Communication in the Department of Communication for the session 2019-20.

  • MA / PGDJ Fastrack Interview (Candidates who have secured above 70% in UG): April 10, 2019

Dept. of Communication

  • The Mass Communication Curriculum is based on the internationally-acclaimed UNESCO model. The infrastructure and service facilities include a modern broadcast studio and labs, student exchange programs, internships - all geared to help students make a smooth transition from classrooms to the industry

B. A. MASS Communication

  • Mass Communication is the practical applications of journalism (online or print media), television and radio broadcasting, film, public relations, animation and graphic design, advertising
  • The Program intends instruction in the role and function of mass media in the society. It combines knowledge creation and extension, craft and context, with practical applications in a study program of proven excellence.

M. A. in Communication

  • The Master of Arts in Communication program engages in a broad array of courses that range from the development of hands-on skills to the exploration of theory, to a focus on practice and application, and analysis of state-of-art research
  • This stimulating course which creates professionals with advanced communication skills

PG Diploma in Journalism (P.G.D.J)

  • The one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism (P. G. D. J.) program at the Amrita School of Communication imparts training to students interested in print journalism who aspire to become journalists in newspapers and magazines
  • This also provides students an opportunity to make a lateral entry into our M.A. (Communication) Program in the second year, in the print specialization stream

PhD in Communication

  • The PhD in Communication Studies draws on preeminent research in both the humanities and social sciences traditions. The program is designed for those intending to pursue a teaching and research career in higher education.

Eligibility Criteria for Amrita University Journalism and Mass Communication Admissions 2019

  • For BA Program: Candidates should have passed 10+2 examination with an aggregate minimum of 50% marks or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities
  • For MA Program: Candidates should have a bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with aggregate 50% marks. Candidate from the foreign universities should obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities
  • PG Diploma in Journalism (PGDJ): A pass in bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with an aggregate 50% marks. Candidate from the foreign universities should obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi

Selection Process

  • All candidates are required to appear for the CAPTEST conducted by Amrita University. Selection is based on performance in Communication Aptitude Test-
  • CAPTEST (Entrance Exam)
  • Group Discussion (GD)
  • Personal Interview (PI)
  • Candidates with more than 70% aggregate marks during the first two years of their degree are exempted from appearing for the CAPTEST. However, they will have to appear for personal interview
  • Students who qualify for personal interviews will be allotted fast track interview slots on priority basis before the actual CAPTEST slots

Note:

  • The CAPTEST will be held only in Coimbatore campus. For candidates from outside Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telugana & Hyderabad will be conducted through SKYPE. The results will be announce a day after the exam. All documents in original should be submitted within the deadline specified on provisional selection

  • Candidates have to pay a demand draft for Rs.500/- made out in favor of "Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham" payable at "Coimbatore"
