Admission Notice 2012-13

Sikkim University, a Central University established by an Act of Parliament of India in 2007 is being designed in such a way so as to make it known for academic excellence and research, for its all inclusive institutional character and a strong instrument of regional development and cross-border integration

Its academic programmes based on scientifically designed semester systems and evaluation based on credit related grading system have strong non-conventional contents

Its national character, innovative teaching methods, curriculum development and field exposure programmes have started attracting students and faculty members from both India and abroad

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the entrance examination in the following programmes for the academic session 2012-13

B.A./M.A. in Chinese Language, B.Sc/M.Sc in Psychology, B.A.-LL.B/LL.M in Law and Legal Jurisprudence Studies, B.Sc/M.Sc in Floriculture and Horticulture Management, B.Sc/M.Sc in Earth Sciences, B.Sc/M.Sc in Mathematics, BBA/MBA, BCA/MCA, B.Music/M.Music, M.Sc in Physical Sciences (Physics), M.Sc in Chemical Sciences (Chemistry), M.Sc in Microbiology, M.A. in International Relations/Politics, M.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies and Management, M.A. in Sociology, M.A. in Mass Communication, M.Sc in Geography and Natural Resources Management, M.Sc in Economics, M.A. in Nepali Language and Literature, M.A. in Hindi Language and Literature, M.Sc in Psychology (lateral entry), M.Sc in Ethno Botany and Social Medicine Studies, M.Phil/Ph.D in International Relations/Politics, M.Phil/Ph.D in Sociology, M.Phil/Ph.D in Peace and Conflict Studies and Management, M.Phil/Ph.D in Microbiology, M.Phil/Ph.D in Physical Sciences (Physics), M.Phil/Ph.D in Chemical Sciences (Chemistry), M.Phil/Ph.D in Economics, M.Phil/Ph.D in Geography and Natural Resources Management, M.Phil/Ph.D in Mass Communication, PG Diploma in Tea Development and Management

Entrance test centres in India are located in almost all the states of India

In neighbouring countries entrance examination centres are located in Colombo, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Thimphu, Yangon, Yunan (China)

The entrance test will be held on 12th-13th May, 2012 in all the designated centres in the country and neighbouring countries

First merit list of successful candidates will be published on 01st June, 2012

Registration for the admission will start on 01st June, 2012 and classes will commence on 10th July, 2012

Detailed information regarding admission procedure and eligibility etc is given in the prospectus-cum-application form 2012-13 which can be obtained from the Sikkim University Management Block located at Tadong from 09.30 a.m. to 05.30 p.m. till 25th April, 2012 against cash payment of Rs 250/- in favour of Sikkim University

The examination fee for General candidates for each subject is Rs 300/- and for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled (DA) candidates is Rs 150/- which should be drawn as demand draft in favour of Sikkim University payable at Gangtok
