Diploma Courses in Special Education

Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) has invited applications for admission to the academic session 2012-13 through an All India Online Aptitude Test

These courses are offered by RCI recognized institutions to train teachers to teach children with special needs

1. Diploma in Education-Special Education (Deaf and Hard of Hearing)

2. Diploma in Education-Special Education (Mental Retardation)

3. Diploma in Education-Special Education (Visual Impairment)

All India Online Aptitude Test for Admission: RCI is conducting an All India online aptitude test for admission to the said three Diploma courses throughout the country

These diploma courses are recognized by the council and conducted by different institutions throughout the country

The aptitude test will be held in various cities/towns in a phased manner

Syllabus for the Aptitude Test: The aptitude test will have 100 objective/multiple choice questions which will have four options

A candidate has to select the correct answer for every question

The test has been designed to ascertain a candidate’s awareness on following sections/descriptions

Section A-Current Affairs 40, Section B-General Awareness 40, Section C-Teaching Aptitude and Awareness on Disability issues 20

There is no negative marking for incorrect/wrong answer

The candidates opting for paper-pencil test will be allotted separate examination centres, subject to availability

Eligibility Criteria: The minimum academic qualification for admission to Diploma courses is 10+2 or its equivalent examination from a recognized by central/state board of education

Those who have appeared/appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination recognized by central/state board of education in 2012 may also apply for aptitude test for admission to these courses

Application Procedure: Application can either be made online or submitted on prescribed application form given in the prospectus

Request for prospectus and application forms for All India Online Aptitude Test can be made by registered/speed post addressed to Satvat Infosol, 23 Lattice Bridge Road, III Floor Pizza Corner Building, Adyar, Chennai-600020 and accompanied by a bank draft for Rs 500/- (Rs five hundred only) for general/OBC and Rs 300/- (Rs three hundred only) for SC/ST/PH, drawn in favour of
Member Secretary, RCI, New Delhi, payable at New Delhi

Also enclose a blank self addressed envelope (21cm×30 cm) affixed with postage stamp of Rs 25/-

Duly filled in application form along with the requisite fee of Rs 500/- (General/OBC) and Rs 300/- (SC/ST/PH) in the form of demand draft should be sent to Satvat Infosol, 23 Lattice Bridge Road, III Floor Pizza Corner Building, Adyar, Chennai-600020

Deadline for receipt of filled in application form is 28th February, 2012

RCI will not be responsible for any postal delay

The candidates making online application must submit computer generated application form alongwith requisite fee of Rs 500/- (General/OBC) and Rs 300/- (SC/ST/PH) in the form of demand draft Satvat Infosol, 23 Lattice Bridge Road, III Floor Pizza Corner Building, Adyar, Chennai-600020

Deadline for receipt of filled in application form is 28th February, 2012

Examination Centres: The aptitude test will be conducted at designated centres in selected cities

A candidate has to indicate three cities in the application form in the order of her/his preference/convenience

Every effort will be made to accommodate the candidates according to their choice of city for examination centre opted in the application form

In case, the examination centre opted by the candidate is full, the candidate will be accommodated in the next nearest centre

The council reserves its discretion to allot a centre other than the city of the candidate’s choice, if necessary

Hall Ticket: Hall Ticket will be sent to all eligible candidates whose duly filled in application form along with all necessary enclosures are received on or before the due date

The Hall Ticket will contain the date, time and venue of the exam

Examination Dates: The All India Online Aptitude Test will be conducted in selected cities across the country between 7th April, 2012 to 30th April, 2012 (including Saturday/Sunday)

In case of an unexpected increase in the number of applications, the examination dates can be extended

Date, time and examination centre of the test will be communicated to the candidate individually

Results and score card: The result of the aptitude test will be published on the website www.satvatonlineexams.com and/or www.rehabcouncil.nic.in in the 2nd week of May, 2012

The date of declaration of result may get extended if the aptitude test window is extended beyond 30th April, 2012

Cut off mark for admission will be declared on the website of RCI www.rehabcouncil.nic.in within a week from the date of declaration of results

Candidates can download/print their score card from the website www.satvatonlineexams.com after 2nd week of May 2012 free of cost

Admission: Eligible candidates qualifying the examination may approach any institution for admission directly on their own

The admission will be made by an institution on first come first served basis. RCI reserves all rights regarding admission to various courses

Reservation: The reservation of seats in these courses for different castes will be as per state and central government rules

For OBC, 27% extra seats (over and above total intake for each course) are available for centrally administered institutions only

Date of examination: 07th-30th April, 2012

Sale of prospectus and application form: 28th December, 2011 to 21st February, 2012

Last date for receipt of request for prospectus and application form by post is 10th February, 2012

Receipt of complete application form/online submission with bank draft by post is 28th February, 2012

Date of dispatch of hall ticket is 10th March, 2012

Examination centre as indicated on the Hall Ticket

Declaration of Results is 10th May, 2012 to 30th May, 2012
