School of Business, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati notifies Admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program 2024-25

 

IIT Guwahati MBA Admission 2024 – School of Business (SOB), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, has invited application for admission to two-year (for semesters) Residential Program – Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program for the Academic Year 2024-25

 

About MBA Program

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at IIT Guwahati is a two-year (four semesters) residential programme. The programme, which is holistic in nature, comprises of classroom teaching, case studies, projects and internship in the industry. The aim of the program is to offer a comprehensive learning experience for students, focusing on bridging the gap between technical expertise and corporate leadership, pivotal in making informed business decisions. The capability to comprehend both technical intricacies and business dynamics significantly influences decision-making, fostering invaluable corporate assets in a fiercely competitive and dynamically evolving market.

The MBA curriculum aims to enhance analytical skills by instilling a deep understanding of core business principles, including economics, accounting, finance, organizational development, and strategic management. Alongside mandatory courses, the program offers a wide array of specialized electives from various academic disciplines. Additionally, it allows students the flexibility to specialize in specific areas of general and applied management through extensive project work.

 

Important Dates

  • Opening of Application Portal for Submission of Applications: January 18, 2024.
  • Closing of Application Portal: 05:00 PM on February 19, 2024.
  • Selection process will commence from March 2024. Please watch the School of Business website for regular updates.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The prospective candidates applying to the MBA Program at the School of Business at IIT Guwahati must satisfy the following criteria:
  • A valid score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT)
  • A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks or a minimum CPI or CGPA of 6.0 out of 10.
  • For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% in marks (i.e., minimum 55%) or equivalent in CGPA (i.e., minimum 5.50 on a 10-point scale) is permissible.
  • For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% in marks (i.e., minimum 55%) or equivalent in CGPA (i.e., minimum 5.50 on a 10-point scale) is permissible.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India
  • The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Selection Process

  • Selection to MBA Programme of School of Business is being proposed to carry out through a two-stage selection process. In Stage 1, the profile of the applicants will be evaluated to arrive at a composite score for shortlisting them for Stage 2 of the selection process. 

Stage 1 

  • The shortlisting of the applicants will be the composite score which will be derived from evaluation with respect to the following parameters: 
  1. Performance in CAT* – 70% Weightage
  2. Gender Diversity** – 10% Weightage
  3. Work Experience – 7% Weightage
  4. Performance in Class XII (or Equivalent) – 5% Weightage
  5. Performance in Graduation Degree – 5% Weightage
  6. Performance in Post Graduation Degree – 3% Weightage

Note:

  • * Only valid CAT Score card will be admissible
  • ** 10% score would be awarded to non-male candidates. 

 

Stage 2 

  • The shortlisted candidates from Stage 1 of the Selection Process will be invited to Stage 2 of the selection process. In Stage 2, the applicants will be asked to face a personal interview. Final selection of the candidates to the MBA programme will be on the performance with respect to the following parameters shown in Table
  1. a) Performance in CAT – 40%
  2. b) Performance in Personal Interview – 40%
  3. c) Work Experience – 10%
  4. d) Performance in Graduation Degree – 10%
