Jagdish Chandra Bose is an Indian (Bengali) plant physiologist, physicist, and science fiction writer. Jagdish Chandra Bose was born in the year 1858 in a village in Bengal. He studied Physics at Calcutta University, and then went to Cambridge, England for further studies. When he returned to India, he was chosen for the position Professor of Physics at Presidency College in Calcutta. He found out that he was being paid two-third of the salary given to a British professor. He argued that equal salaries should be given to two people working equally. He won the disagreement after three years before he refused to give in and use the salary given to him. Therefore, he is described to be a rebel. He noticed a similarity between all branches of science. He came up with the theory that plants and metals have feelings as well. He was well-learnt in plant physiology and physics. So, he combined both of his interests. He invented the cresograph and presented it in the Paris Congress of Science, 1900. He paved the way for Indian scientists. He had a keen eye for novel ideas. He was also determined as he did not let the judgement of others discourage him. He cared for his country and believed in the intelligence and potential of his fellow countrymen. He wanted to make a better future for all Indians.
