1. Uses of crescograph
Ans. The crescograph is a device invented by Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose. He developed it to prove that plants also experience emotions. The crescograph showed that plants have hearts and are capable of feeling. The crescograph indicated that plants have a keen sight and react to rays of light and wireless waves. The machine proved that plants have a special sense which tells them of the approach of a stranger. The invention measured how plants grew and developed and showed reactions to stimuli.

2. Jagdish Chandra Bose’s contribution to science
Ans. For a long time, the sciences of living and non-living worlds were kept apart. Lifeless objects were declared to not have emotions or react to stimuli. Jagdish Chandra Bose, on the other hand, saw a bridge between the two aspects of the world. He found a similarity between non-living objects and living beings. According to Jagdish Chandra Bose, plants, rocks, and metals could feel emotions and react to stimuli. Besides physics, he found life sciences interesting as well. So, he merged his varied fields of interest to prove that plants also breathe and feel. The invention of the crescograph was one of his contributions to science. Bose’s invention introduced the country to globally renowned scientists of that time.

3. Jagdish Chandra Bose’s love for his country
Ans. Jagdish Chandra Bose was a patriotic and passionate individual. He fought against the age gap between Indian professors and British professors in a non-violent manner by refusing to accept the salary given to him. He demanded that he and the other Indian professors get equal wages instead of 2/3rds of what the British professors would get. His invention was the first Indian invention to be showcased at the Paris Congress of Science. At a convocation of the University of Mysore in November 1927, he said in his speech to the assembly that if the country wanted to progress, Indians would have to be active. One of his aims was to build a brighter future for his countrymen.
