MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2024 – Candidates who wish to appear for MHT CET 2024 must fulfil some MHT CET Eligibility 2024. The MHT CET eligibility criteria are a set of parameters with respect to education qualification, age limit, and nationality that aspiring candidates must fulfil. Only those candidates who meet all the eligibility requirements must fill out the MHT CET 2024 application form.

- MHT CET 2024 Academic Qualifications Criteria– Candidates should have passed 10 + 2 (Class 12), an equivalent level of examination from a recognised board or university with the PCM group of subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). The candidate that clears this criterion can apply.
- MHT CET 2024 Qualifying Marks – In the qualifying exam being considered, the candidates should have scored at least 45% marks. However, the percentage of marks required for the reserved category is 40%.
Maharashtra State Candidature Criteria for MHT CET 2024
As MHT CET is a Maharashtra state level exam for admission to colleges in the state, Maharashtra states candidates are given preference. All other candidates may apply under All India Candidature.
Candidates who opt for Maharashtra State Candidature must fall into at least one of the following types. However,only one kind of Maharashtra State Candidature Type, ranging from Type A to E, may be claimed by a candidate.

Type A | For First Year: –
(i) Candidates passing SSC and also HSC or Diploma in Engineering Examination from a recognised institution in Maharashtra State; (ii) Candidate who is either Domicile of Maharashtra and/or is born in Maharashtra; For Direct Second Year: – (1) For Engineering. – Candidates passing SSC or HSC and also Diploma in Engineering or Technology or Bachelor of Science or Diploma of Vocation (D. Voc.) or its equivalent from a recognised institution in Maharashtra State; (2) For Pharmacy. – Candidates passing HSC and Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution in Maharashtra State; (ii) Candidate who is either Domicile of Maharashtra and/or is born in Maharashtra. |
Type B | A Candidate who does not fall in Type-A above, but who or whose Father or Mother is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra and possesses Domicile Certificate. |
Type C | A Candidate who does not fall in either Type-A or Type-B but whose Father or Mother is an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking and who has been posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra State before the last date for submission of Application Form for CAP. |
Type D | A Candidate who does not fall in any of the above Type-A, Type B and Type-C but whose Father or Mother is an
employee or retired employee of the Government of Maharashtra or Government of Maharashtra Undertaking. |
Type E | For First year
Candidates passing SSC and/or HSC Examination from a recognized institution located in Maharashtra Karnataka Border area or from Maharashtra, residing in the Maharashtra Karnataka Border area and whose mother tongue is Marathi; For direct second year Candidates passing SSC and/or HSC Examination and also Diploma in Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy or D.Voc. or its equivalent from a recognized institution from Maharashtra Karnataka Border area or from Maharashtra, residing in the Maharashtra Karnataka Border area and whose mother tongue is Marathi. Explanation.- The Maharashtra Karnataka Border Area includes the villages declared by the State Government for that purpose. |
All India Candidature
- This group includes applicants who are applying for admission to Maharashtra’s engineering institutions but do not reside in the state.
- Applicants who are of Indian descent may apply under this category.
Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh Candidature
Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidates will be considered as OMS candidates. ‘OMS candidate’ means Outside Maharashtra State candidate who is an Indian National.The following types of Candidates are eligible under this category.
(a) The children of citizens, who are displaced from Jammu and Kashmir to any part of India from unsafe border area of Jammu and Kashmir to a relatively safer place in Jammu and Kashmir from 1990 onwards due to terrorist activities; or
(b) The Children of officers belonging to Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS) or Indian Foreign Services (IFS) posted to Jammu and Kashmir to combat terrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application for admission; or
(c) The children of staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces posted in past or currently in the Jammu and Kashmir to combat terrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application for admission; or
(d) Kashmiri Pandits or Kashmiri Hindu families (Non-migrants) living in the Kashmir valley and having Domicile certificate of Jammu and Kashmir; or
(e) The children of staff and officers of Jammu and Kashmir police engaged in combating terrorism.
MHT CET Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admissions
There is a special criteria benefit provided to candidates in the following list. Such candidates can be provided direct admission without appearing in the MHT CET 2024 exam –
- Children of Non-resident Indians (NRIs)
- Children of Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)
- Children of a Person of Indian Origin (PIO)
- Children of Indian workers from gulf countries.
- Foreign nationals
MHT CET 2024 Eligibility Criteria for Minority Candidature
Those candidates belonging to a particular Linguistic or Religious Minority Community from within the State and as prescribed by the government are eligible under this category.
Candidates seeking minority candidature need to produce-
- Declaration of the Candidate for the respective Linguistic / Religious Minority Community or Leaving Certificate having information pertaining to Religion / Mother tongue.
- Domicile/Birth/Leaving certificate of candidate indicating place of birth in the State of Maharashtra.
MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Wards of Defence Personnel
Given below are the eligibility criteria which the wards of Defence Personnel need to meet to be eligible for reservation –
- Children of ex-service personnel who are domiciled in Maharashtra.
- Children of active service personnel who are domiciled in Maharashtra.
MHT CET Eligibility Criteria for Persons with Disability (PwD) 2024
In addition to the basic qualification mentioned, candidate who is suffering from any
one of the following permanent disability is eligible to seek admission against seats reserved for
Persons with Disability candidates, provided they submit a certificate clearly stating that the extent of disabilities listed below is not less than 40% and the disability is of permanent nature.
