The senior citizens of our colony have initiated the project of a Reading Club for the children living in the neighbouring slum- Jantapur. All the members of senior extravaganza association have volunteered for the project. Every Sunday morning, the association members devote two hours to the reading club. Various activities and workshops are organized to inculcate the habit of reading and to shape the young minds. The exercises aim at increasing the children’s interest in school books. For this, there are role play sessions wherein students select a character and read out their dialogues from the play given in the book. Home Association conducted a workshop, ‘Joy of Missing Out’ to raise awareness about the ill-effects of addiction to mobile phones. The panel of speakers comprised activists, psychologist and sociologists who spoke about the increase in cases of mobile phone addiction among the young and old.
There is a compulsive use of moblie phones and the addicts remain preoccupied with it. In such cases, if the mobile phone is removed, then withdrawal symptoms can be seen. These can vary from irritation and anxiety and worsen into depression and also lead to suicidal tendencies.
The key lies in adopting measures like limiting screen time and one should turn off the mobile phone to interact with the real world around. Practicing mindfulness and engaging in physical activities helps release happy hormones and one can get rid of the ill-effects of mobile phone addiction. A group of students from the Meetha bhai college organised a week-long street theatre festival called “Digitoll” at Shiva Auditorium, University of Delhi. The aim was to highlight the concern of rising digital addiction’s effects on social and emotional life of people. Through entertainment, the street theatre conveyed the relevant message by engaging with the audience who shared personal stories and experiences related to digital addiction. Many local incidents were interwoven to convey the message. The aim of the festival was to change attitudes and behaviour. One-day inter-school cricket match held

A one-day cricket match was held between Ratan Public School and Wali Public School. The U-19 teams of both schools participated and Ratan Public School won by fourteen runs. With this, the school became the defending champion. The match was held on 30 March, 2025 from 7 AM to 2 PM at the grounds of Ratan Public School. Wali Public school won the toss and chose to bat first. 

The winners did not lose a single wicket and both the opening batsmen scored a century each. With this, Raman became the man-of-the-match for scoring a century and also taking a wicket. He made the fastest century in 55 balls. The winners were felicitated in the closing ceremony. The Chief Guest, Major Roop Kumar gave away the trophies and also lauded the winners for their achievement.

The Resident Welfare Association, Medipur launched a two-day cleanliness drive in the EWS Housing colony, Medipur in the first week of April. The initiative – Clean the Park Drive was aimed at engaging the colony children to become responsible towards their surroundings. Volunteers helped in picking and segregating littered papers, bags, food articles, etc. Some volunteers made posters which were put up on the roads leading to the colony. Several students bought their favourite books and were enthusiastic about the huge variety on display. The evenings saw meet the author sessions. Authors of children books, namely, Ruskin Bond, Kavita Deshpande, Tahira K, Jayanti Lal, Gayatri Kohli interacted with students and signed the copies of their books for the young readers. Workshops were organised on creating graphic novels and book covers. An inter-school quiz (for classes VI – VIII) was held on 25 March which saw teams from the prominent schools of the city. The library week, with so many activities, was a success and will be a regular annual feature of the school calendar.

The school organised a week-long initiative called ‘Let’s eat Healthy Week’ to sensitize the students about healthy food habits. The first day saw a two-hour workshop by renowned nutritionist, Ms July David. She delivered a talk on healthy eating and even gave information on pocket-friendly sources of nutrition suitable for growing children. This greatly benefitted the students. The second day saw a poster making competition for students of classes V and VI. They had to make posters highlighting the benefits of healthy eating habits. On the third day, a workshop was held for pupils of classes IX – XII where entrepreneur Sumati gave a talk and hand-on learning experience related to growing microgreens with hydroponic technology. Chef Gunveen was the guest on day four. She conducted a workshop on healthy cooking and shared simple recipes for tasty and nutritious food. She even shared no fire recipes for students of classes I – III. Day five saw a competition where the students had to curate the school canteen menu for a week. The recipes had to include variety and be vegetarian. On the final day, the students enacted a play on ill-effects of fast food. The play was scripted and directed by Ms. Aradhna. The school principal ws the guest of honour at the staging of the play. The initiative closed with a pledge by the students to adopt a healthy diet.

A team of forty students from the Community Outreach department undertook an initiative in the Rajiv Jhopdi area. The initiative was held for the week from 21 March – 28 March during school hours. A group of 100 slum children were identified who did not go to school. These children were trained in various skills like basic language and numerical skills, environment cleanliness and personal hygiene. Free study material and stationery items were distributed among the children. Sanitary pads were distributed among the girl child. Cooking Competition organised to mark Women’s Day

On the occasion of Women’s Day, on 8th March, the RWA of Preeti Nagar organised a cooking competition which saw participation by 40 women of the area. The competition was held at the Community centre from 3 to 5 PM. Eminent chef Sanjay Kumar was the judge at the event. The competitors were supposed to prepare two evening snacks and a cooling beverage each. There was a variety of dishes on display, like, mojito, pineapple mint cooler, guava lemon schnapp, exotic baked cookie, thin crust pizza bites, bread rolls with millet stuffing. Jyotika was the winner, followed by Garima as the first runner up and Gunjan as the second runner up. The school celebrated its annual day on 01 April. The function was held in the school auditorium from 12 PM to 5 PM. Mr Anand Gupta, Member of the school governing body was the Chief Guest. The function commenced by the lighting of the lamp by the Principal and Chief Guest. This was followed by a welcome speech by the Principal. Then the Chief Guest gave a brief speech where he appreciated the hard work done by the teachers ans students to maintain the school’s record of a 100% pass result. This was followed by a cultural programme comprising song, dance, martial arts, drama and vocal singing performances. Next, the Chief Guest gave away prizes and medals to honour the brilliant students. Students of the outgoing class XII who made it to the roll of honour were also felicitated. The school completed 25 years and the celebrations to commemorate this were held on 7 April 2025 in the school hall. The Deputy Collector of the city, Mr Anuj Garg was the Chief Guest. The programme commenced with a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the 25 year journey of the school’s growth. This was a nostalgic moment for most of the staff members. Then the Principal presented a list of academic and extra-curricular achievements of the school. This was followed by a speech by the Chief Guest who lauded the students and staff for their efforts. Students of the senior wing presented a cultural programme. The school’s alumni was also present on the occasion and a few students gave a note of thanks to their teachers and mentors. The Senior residents of Chanderkala society have volunteered to teach slum children from the neighbouring Vatsala Chawl. They are also provided free study material. This initiative is a great move to help alleviate the slum dwellers of our society. The volunteers have appealed for fundraising so that they can continue the endeavour smoothly. The classes are conducted in the community hall near the slum. The volunteers also help in making shelters for stray animals and initiate clean-up drives in the slum. This has significantly improved the condition of the slum dwellers.

The school was the venue for the inter-school one-day cricket tournament held on 31 March at the school grounds. Teams from Janta vidyalya, Kirori Mal high school, Vedanta Paathshala and DPS participated in the age categories of U-13 and U-15. Vedanta Paathshala won the U-13 Trophy by a margin of 2 wickets while DPS won in the U-15 category by 20 runs. Jayant of DPS was adjudged the star performer for scoring 50 runs not out. Cash prize of 10,000 rupees was awarded to the winning teams along with certificates of participation to all the players. The cheerleading teams from all the participating schools deserve a special mention for maintaining the enthusiasm of the players.
