Sophie and Jansie were close friends. Sophie knew Jansie’s nature that she could not keep secrets. Jansie thought that telling something to gawky Jansie meant that the entire neighbourhood would get to know about it.  Thus, she did not want her to know about her meeting with Danny Casey.
