What were the options that Sophie was dreaming of? Why does Jansie discourage her from having such dreams?

Answer –

Sophie was a day dreamer. She idolized of owning a boutique. If she could not afford one, then, probably she would be a manager at a boutique. After some more thinking, she opines that she could be an actress because that would not require any financial investments. Then she could have a boutique on the side too. She even thought of being a fashion designer, as famous as Mary Quant.

Jansie is a realistic girl and so, she discourages Sophie. She knows that they belong to poor families and cannot afford such professions.
