“The battle of Champaran is won!.” What led Gandhiji to make this remark?

Answer –

If Gandhiji was arrested, the lawyers first decided to return home. But they quickly realized their error. They were ashamed of not supporting the peasants who were of the same area while Gandhiji being an outsider was ready to court arrest for them. When they declared that they would fight for the peasants’ cause if Gandhiji was arrested and volunteered to go to jail for the sharecroppers’ cause, Gandhiji was overjoyed and exclaimed, “The battle of Champaran is won!” This was the first victory of Civil Disobedience in India.
