National Testing Agency announces SHRESHTA National Entrance TesT (NETS) 2024 

 

SHRESHTA NETS 2024 – The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has announced the initiation of the National Entrance Test for the Scheme for Residential Education for Students in Higher Classes in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA (NETS)-2024. The SHRESHTA Program selects students for the 9th and 11th grades in some of the best private residential schools across India. The objective of the SHRESHTA program, aimed at providing high-quality education to meritorious Scheduled Castes (SCs) students, the government will offer approximately 3,000 fully-funded seats in Class 9th and 11th in reputed CBSE-affiliated residential schools.

The National Entrance Test (NETS) for SHRESHTA will be conducted offline by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for SC students seeking admission to Class 9th and 11th, provided their parental income is less than 2.5 lakh per year. Notably, there will be no application fee for candidates.

 

Important Dates 

  • Online Application Submission: March 12, 2024, to April 4, 2024, until 05:00 P.M.
  • Correction Period for Application: April 6, 2024, to April 8, 2024, until 05:00 P.M. (corrections allowed on the website only).
  • Admit Card Download: Tentatively from May 12, 2024.
  • Examination Date: May 24, 2024.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Student belonging to scheduled castes, studying in class 8th and 10th in the current academic year (2023-24). 
  • Parent’s annual income is upto Rs. 2.5 lacs.

Age Limit

  • Candidate opting for class IX should be born between 01-04-2008 to 31-03-2012 (i.e. 16 to 12 years of age as on 31.03.2024)
  • Candidate opting for class XI should be born between 01-04-2006 to 31-03-2010 (i.e. 18 to 14 years of age as on 31.03.2024)

Entrance Test Qualification

  • They need to pass the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS) administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA)

 

Application Procedure

  • Candidates must read carefully the Instructions (including how to fill up the Application Form online) given in the Information Bulletin available on the NTA Website https://exams.nta.ac.in/
  • Candidates can apply for SHRESHTA (NETS) 2024 through the “Online” mode only. 
  • Keep all required information such as scanned documents of photographs, signature, complete name and address of the school.

Step 1: Registration Page

  • Candidate’s Name/ Mother’s Name/ Father’s Name as in the school records. Date of Birth in dd/mm/yyyy format as recorded in date of birth certificate/school records.
  • Mobile Number and e-mail Address: Candidates must provide mobile number and email address (Own or Parent/Guardian).
  • Provide complete postal address with PIN Code (Correspondence and Permanent address) for further correspondence.

Step 2: Fill in the complete Application Form

  • The application particulars entered in Step-I can be edited before final submission of the Application Form

Choice of Exam Cities

  • The candidate should select any four cities of their choice for examination of SHRESHTA (NETS) given at Appendix I.
  • Allotment of Centre is made by computer and there is no human intervention.
  • Choices once exercised will not be changed under any circumstances

Step 3: Upload Scanned Photograph and Signature

  • Candidate’s Photograph: to be uploaded.
  • Passport size Photograph (size: 10 kb to 200 kb) in JPG or JPEG format.
  • Spectacles are allowed only if being used regularly.
  • Polaroid and Computer-generated photos are not acceptable.
  • Application without photographs shall be rejected.

 

Application Fees

  • General category, BC (creamy layer), and EBC (creamy layer) candidates: Rs.600/-
  • Candidates from BC (non-creamy layer), EBC (non-creamy layer), EWS, SC, ST, and PwD categories are required to pay a fee of Rs.400/-

 

Exam Scheme

  • SHRESHTA (NETS) 2024 will be conducted in pen and paper mode (offline)
  • Exam Duration: 180 minutes (03:00 Hrs).
  • Exam Timing: 02:00 P.M. to 05:00 P.M.
  • Language of the Paper: Bilingual (English & Hindi).

Marking Scheme for MCQs

  • Correct Answer or the Most Appropriate Answer – Four marks (+4)
  • Incorrect Answer / Unanswered – No mark (0)
  • Method of Resolving Ties – (1) Older in Age (2) Application Number in ascending order

 

Medium of Question Paper

  • Hindi and English
  • Note: In case of any ambiguity in translation of any question, the English version shall be treated as final.

 

Syllabus of Exam

  • NCERT Syllabus of Class 8th for admission in class 9th and NCERT Syllabus of Class 10th for admission in class 11th

 

Choice of Cities

  • The Cities where the SHRESHTA (NETS) – 2024 will be conducted are given in Appendix- I. While applying, candidates have to select any four cities of their choice. The efforts will be made to allot the city of examination to the candidates in order of choice opted by them in their online Application Form. However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted.
  • Note: NTA reserves the right to change any of the above mentioned Cities that may have been opted by any candidate in his/ her Online Application Form, at a later stage due to administrative or logistic reasons and may allot a City to him/her other than from his/ her choices of Cities, given in the Online Application For

 

Admit Card

  • The e-Admit Card would be issued provisionally to the candidates through the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/SHRESHTA/, http://shreshta.ntaonline.in/ subject to the fulfilment of the eligibility conditions.
  • The candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website. The candidate will appear in the exam at the given Centre on the date and timing as indicated in his/her e-Admit Card. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination Centre, other than that allotted to him/her in his/her Admit Card.
  • In case a candidate is unable to download his/her Admit Card from the website, he/she should approach the NTA Help Line Number: 011-40759000 between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.

 

Cancellation of Result

  • The result of SHRESHTA (NETS) – 2024 of the candidate(s) who indulge in unfair means Practices will be cancelled and will not be declared
  • Similarly, the results of those candidates who appear from the Centre other than the one allotted to them or allow another candidate/person to write the exam on his behalf will be cancelled. No plea will be entertained in this regard.

 

SHRESHTA (NETS) NTA Score

  • NTA Score would be made live on the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/SHRESHTA/ or http://shreshta.ntaonline.in/
