Osmania University announces Common Post Graduate Entrance Test (CPGET) 2019 for Admission to PG courses

Osmania University CPGET 2019 – Applications are invited from the interested candidates for admission into various courses in Osmania University on the basis of CGPET for the year 2019

 

Osmania University CPGET 2019 Important Dates

  • Start date of online application: 29th April 2019
  • Last date of submission of application:
  • Without late fee: 30th May 2019
  • With a late fee of Rs. 500/-: 08th June 2019
  • With a late fee of Rs. 2000/-: 11th June 2019
  • Commencement of entrance test tentatively starts from: 14th June 2019

 

Courses Offered and Eligibility Criteria for Osmania University PG Admission 2019

Faculty of Arts:

M.A AIHCA (Test- AIHCA):

  • Any graduate except oriental with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA)

M.A. Arabic: Test- Arabic

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA) with Arabic as one of the Language. and
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 20 credits in Arabic. or
  • Must have studied the Arabic language in Bachelor’s Degree either in Part-I or in Part-II for at least two years and for a minimum of 200 marks.

M.A English: Test- English

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA) with English as one of the Language.and
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 20 credits in English. or
  • Must have studied the English language in Bachelor’s Degree either in Part-I or in Part-II for at least two years and for a minimum of 200 marks.

M.A Hindi: Test- Hindi

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks (or equivalent
  • CGPA) with Hindi as one of the Language. and
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 20 credits in Hindi. or
  • Must have studied the Hindi language in Bachelor’s Degree either in Part-I or in Part-II for at least two years and for a minimum of 200 marks.

M.A Kannada: Test- Kannada

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks (or equivalent
  • CGPA) with Kannada as one of the Language. and
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 20 credits in Kannada. or
  • Must have studied the Kannada language in Bachelor’s Degree either in Part-I or in Part-II for at least two years and for a minimum of 200 marks.

M.A Marathi: Test- Marathi

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA) with Marathi as one of the Language. and
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 20 credits in Marathi. or
  • Must have studied the Marathi language in Bachelor’s Degree either in Part-I or in Part-II for at least two years and for a minimum of 200 marks.

M.A Persian: Test- Persian

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA) with Persian/Arabic/Urdu as one of the Language. and
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 20 credits in Persian /Arabic/Urdu. or
  • Must have studied the Persian/Arabic/Urdu language in Bachelor’s Degree either in Part-I or in Part-II for at least two years and for a minimum of 200 marks.

For languages course like B.E, B.Tech, B.Pharm. etc are not eligible.

The candidates with other than B.A/ B.Sc. / B.Com. Qualification like B.E, B.Tech, B.Pharmacy, LLB (5yrs) B.CA etc. must go through the eligibility conditions before applying to ensure their eligibility.

Faculty of Social Sciences:

  • For all the Courses under Faculty of Arts the Candidates must have secured the following % of marks or CGPA in their

Qualifying Examination:

  • Candidates should have passed in the Qualifying Examination with not less than 40% marks or equivalent CGPA
  • A pass in the Qualifying Examination is sufficient for SC/ST candidates. 3. The candidates passing the examination compartmentally and securing required percentage of marks or equivalent CGPA are also eligible. 4. All the courses are of two years duration, except M.Lib.I.Sc (1 year) and B.Lib.I.Sc (1 year).

M.A Economics: Test- Economics:

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Economics subject as an optional and must have studied a minimum of 30 credits in Economics or
  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks with Economics subject as an optional. The candidate must have studied Economics at least four papers of 100 marks each.

M.A General Studies: Test- Gender Studies

  • Any Social Science Graduate with 40% marks ( or equivalent CGPA)

M.A History: Test- History

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with History subject as an optional and must have studied a minimum of 30 credits in History or
  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks with History subject as an optional. The candidate must have studied History at least four papers of 100 marks each.

Journalism & Mass communication: Test- Journalism and Mass communication

  • Any Graduate with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA)

M.Lib.I.Sc (2 years), B.Lib.I.Sc (1 year): Test- M.Lib.I.Sc (2 years), B.Lib.I.Sc (1 year): Any graduate with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA)

M.Li.I.Sc. (1 year) (Offered at Kakatiya University): B.Li.I.Sc. Graduate with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA).

Master of Human Resource Management: Test- Master of Human Resource Management: Any Graduate with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA).

M.A Public Administration: Test- Public Administration:

  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Public Administration subject as an optional and must have studied a minimum of 30 credits in Public Administration or
  • Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with 40% marks with Public Administration subject as an optional. The candidate must have studied Public Administration at least four papers of 100 marks each.
  • The candidates with other than B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. Qualification like B.E., B. Tech., B. Pharmacy, LLB (5 yrs),
  • B.C.A., etc. must go through the eligibility conditions before applying to ensure their eligibility. B.Com Candidates are not eligible for M.A. Economics.

Faculty of Commerce

M.Com: Test- M.Com: B.Com Graduate with 40% marks (or equivalent CGPA) (A pass in the qualifying examination is sufficient for SC/ST candidates)

  • M.Sc Botany: Test- Botany
  • M.Sc Chemistry: Test- Chemistry
  • M.Sc Computer Science: Test- Computer Science
  • M.Sc Mathematics: Test- Mathematics
  • Must have obtained a B.Sc. Degree with appropriate subject as an optional subject and must have studied a minimum of 30 credits in appropriate subject or
  • Must have obtained a B.Sc Degree with 40% marks with appropriate subject as an optional. The candidate must have studied appropriate subject at least four papers of 100 marks each.

PG Diploma Courses:

  • PGD in Radiological Physics: Candidates who have passed M.Sc in Physics/ Nuclear Physics or an equivalent course with at least 60% marks of equivalent CGPA
  • PGD in Applied Linguistics: P.G degree in Language/ Literature or M.Sc in Speech and Hearing or any other related subject which offers any one of the branches (Theoretical or Applied) of linguistics as one of the papers.

PGD in Archival Science and Manuscript logy:

  • For fresh candidates: A pass in M.A (A.I.H.C.A)/ M.A. (History)/ M.A (Indian Culture) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • For in service candidates: A Bachelor degree with 3 year relevant experience in Archives/ Record rooms and libraries including Oriental manuscript libraries. Out of 12 seats, 6 seats are offered for fresh students and remaining 6 seats are offered for in service candidates.
  • PGD in Child Psychology: Any women candidate possessing a degree in any Faculty of this University or any other University recognized as equivalent there to.

5 year integrated programmes and Eligibility conditions

  • M.Sc Bio Technology: Test- Biotechnology: The candidate must have passed 10+2 education (Intermediate or equivalent) with 50% marks (a pass mark is sufficient for SC/ST candidates)
  • M.Sc in Chemistry/M.Sc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Chemistry ( 5 years integrated): The candidates must have passed 10+2 education (intermediate or equivalent with MPC/ BPC/ MBPC Groups) as recognized by Board of intermediate education, T.S with a minimum of 50% marks (a pass mark is sufficient for SC/ST candidates).
  • M.A in Applied Economics: Test Economics (5 years integrated): The candidates must have passed 10+2 education (or equivalent) with 50% marks (a pass mark is sufficient for SC/ST candidates)
  • M.B.A: M.B.A (5 years integrated): Candidates must have applied 10+2 education (or equivalent) with 50% marks (a pass mark is sufficient for SC/ST candidates)

Exam Pattern:

  • The entrance tests in all the subjects will be of 90 minutes duration. Except in M.P.Ed. Entrance test, the question paper consists of 100 objective (multiple choice only) type questions for 100 marks.
  • For M.P.Ed., the entrance test will be of 75 multiple choice objective questions for 75 marks. The remaining 25 marks will be awarded by the Department of Physical Education, Osmania University for the Sports achievements of the candidates during the last three years. A table showing the incentive marks for sports achievements at different levels is given in Annexure-V. The decision of the Department of Physical Education, OU will be final and binding in awarding the incentive marks for sports achievements.
  • The entrance test will consist of any 3 or 4 varieties of objective type items such as analogies, classification, matching, comprehension of a research study / experiment / theoretical point of view, etc., with multiple answers besides the usual multiple choice items. The items will be framed only from the syllabus of entrance test.
  • Pattern of Entrance Test for Admission into M.Sc. Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Genetics and Microbiology is as follows. Candidates have to appear for a common entrance test, namely BCESFSG&M comprising of Part-A (Chemistry for 40 Marks) and Part-B (One of the optional studied at B.Sc. level among the optional subjects: Physics, Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Microbiology and Biochemistry) for 60 Marks.
  • Pattern of Entrance Test for Admissions into M.Sc.Bio-Technology comprising of Part-A (Chemistry for 40 marks) and part-B (Bio Technology for 60 Marks

Osmania University CPGET 2019 Application Process

  • Applications will be submitted only through online mode. The fee can be paid through Debit card, Internet banking.

Application Fee:

  • For SC/ST/PH: Rs.600/-
  • For Others: Rs. 800/-
  • For each additional Subject: Rs. 400/-
