New JEE Main Exam Pattern for 2020 – NTA has introduced a new JEE Main exam pattern and the syllabus for the JEE Main exam on September 3, 2019. JEE Main is an  All India entrance examination conducted for admissions to various engineering and architecture programs in IITs, NITs. The JEE Main Exam is conducted twice a year, in January and April respectively.

According to the new exam pattern for JEE Main exam, the exam will be conducted in three papers instead of two papers and there will be a separate exam for admission to B.Tech/BE, B.Arch and B.Planning. The JEE Main 2020 will be conducted in online mode only. JEE Main 2020 registration process has started from September 3, 2019. The last date to apply for the exam is September 30, 2019. The last date for applying for the JEE Main exam has been extended to October 10, 2019.

The NTA has given a detailed list of Exam centres for the JEE Main 2020 exam (state-wise) and the exam centre will be allotted according to the city selected by the candidates.

In case an applicant has any query or grievance, the NTA has set up an online Query Redressal System for JEE Main exam 2020 (QRS). The Registered Candidate(s) are advised to use the online facility for speedy and favorable response before mailing their queries on the official email id of JEE(Main) –  jeemain-nta@gov.in

 

Maximum Number of Attempts for JEE Main exam 2020

The maximum number of attempts for the JEE Main is limited to three. A candidate can sit for the JEE Main exam thrice and the best of the three score can be taken as his final score.

The exam dates for the January session January 6 – 11, 2020
The exam dates for the April sessionApril 3 – 9, 2020.

 

Download of Admit cards for JEE Main 2020

For the January session of the JEE Main 2020 exam, candidates can download the admit card from December 09, 2019. Those candidates who want to appear in the JEE Main 2020 January session, they must download the admit card for the same from December 9, 2019 onwards. It is mandatory for the candidates to carry a print out of the admit card along with them when they go for the JEE Main 2020 exam.

 

JEE Main 2020 exam pattern

Separate exam will be conducted for those students who wish to pursue B.Planning in only one shift.

Students have a choice to appear in JEE Main 2020 in only one, or two or all three exams, respectively.

The total number of questions has been reduced from 264 to 233.

JEE Main 2020 exam will now also include numerical questions along with MCQ questions.

JEE Main 2020 exam duration

JEE Main Exam Duration will be 3 hours. The candidates with 40% disability will get 4 hours for the exam.

JEE Main exam negative marking

In the MCQ questions, for every wrong answer or multiple answers for a question, a candidate will face a negative marking of 1 mark. In case of a question left unanswered or marked for review, no marks will be deducted.    

In the numerical questions, there will be no negative marking for wrong answers, unanswered questions or questions marked for review.

 

JEE Main 2020 Question Paper

 For JEE Main Exam centres located in Daman & Diu, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the JEE Main exam question paper will also be available in Gujarati language. For all the other exam centres, the Question paper of JEE Main 2020 exam will be available in Hindi and English languages only. So, if a candidate wants the question paper in Gujrati language then, he / she must select the exam centre located in Daman & Diu, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli only.
