NEST 2024 – National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai, has jointly announced the schedule of National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2024 for admission to the five-year Integrated MSc program in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for the Academic Session 2024-25

NEST 2024 Exam Details
- National Entrance Screening Test or NEST is a compulsory online/computer-based test for admission to the five-year Integrated MSc programme in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, 2024-25 at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM DAE CEBS) Mumbai. NEST 2024 will be conducted in around 120 cities across India.
- Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS were set up by the Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India in 2007.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must qualify all three eligibility criteria listed below:
- The candidates who have cleared the 12th Standard examination or equivalent in 2022, 2023 or those who will be appearing for the 12th Standard examination or equivalent in 2024, irrespective of category and age, will be considered to be eligible for admission to the Integrated M.Sc. programme of NISER/CEBS in 2024.
- At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Divyangjan candidates, the minimum requirement is 55%.
- Candidates should secure a position in the NEST 2024 merit list.
Age Limit
- Candidates in the Unreserved and OBC categories must have been born on or after August 01, 2004. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ ST/ Divyangjan candidates.
Application Process
- To apply for NEST 2024, candidates must fill out the online application form through the official website https://www.nestexam.in/
- Applications can be submitted only through the NEST 2024 website. There is no other mode of application submission.
- Login credentials for logging into application submission and fee payment portals will be provided upon online registration.
- Candidates need not send any document to the NEST office in the entire application process.
Application Fee
- Female Applicant: Rs.700/-
- Applicant of SC/ST/Divyangjan Category: Rs.700/-
- Male/Others applicant of the General/OBC Category: Rs.1400/-
- Payments can be made using credit card/debit card/net–banking through an online payment gateway. Please use Mastercard/Visa/RuPay cards only.
NEST 2024 Exam Pattern
- Mode of Exam: NEST 2024 Exam will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT/online Exam)
- Date of Exam: June 30, 2024 (Monday), 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (first session) and 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM (second session)
Sections
- The question paper will consist of 5 (five) sections of objective type questions.
- Section 1 is the general section and is of 30 marks and Sections 2 through 5 are of 50 marks each and will contain subject-specific questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
- Language of Paper: English
- Type of Question: Multiple Choice Questions
- Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking in the general section.
NEST 2024 Syllabus
- The syllabus for NEST 2024 primarily follows the NCERT/CBSE science syllabus of class XI–XII. The syllabus can also be downloaded from the official website www.nestexam.in under the ‘Syllabus’ tab.
Exam Centres
- A proposed list of about 90 centers (cities and towns of India) for the NEST exam.
- Candidates must choose 5 (five) centres in order of their preference while filling out the application form. Every effort will be made to allow the centre of first preference.
- The address of the test venue allotted to the applicant will be mentioned on the NEST admit card. Admit cards will be available for download from the online application portal.
