Graduate Aptitude Test Biotechnology (GAT B) 2020
Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) is an eligibility test for admission to DBT-supported PG Programs in Biotechnology in participating institutions across India: M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology, M.V.Sc., M.Tech. Biotechnology and M.Sc. in allied areas
This eligibility test replaces the Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology (CEEB) conducted previously by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary area on the educational scene and programs have been developed to meet the growing demand for trained manpower for any meaningful Biotechnological activity in the country.
The programs are designed to expose the students to methodology, basics and advances of various areas of biotechnology including health, industry, agriculture and medicine.

Eligibility Criteria for Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) 2020
Candidates meeting eligibility criteria for admission to DBT-supported programmes in participating institutions as per Annexure-A are eligible to apply for GAT-B. You may further verify the eligibility criteria for a program on the respective institution website.
In case you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria (as per Annexure A) and still appear in the entrance examination, you will do so at your own risk and cost.
If at any stage, it is found that you do not fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements of the requisite DBT-supported program, the rules of the participating institution for cancellation/termination of admission will be applicable.

Steps for Registration
1.Register to create a Profile
2.Login with system generated User ID and Password
3.Submit Application, process payment.
Documents Details
Upload Mandatory Documents:
a)Upload your recent passport size photograph (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format)
b)Upload your recent scanned signature (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format)
c)Upload your Date of Birth Proof as per guidelines (Maximum 150 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format). Date of Birth Proof can be the DOB certificate in English or if in regional language then a declaration in English; SSC Certificate; PAN Card; Aadhar Card; Passport.
d)Upload your Qualifying Marks Certificate and Applicants appearing for Exam in 2020 have to upload a scan copy of the form in the qualifying exam certificate duly filled and signed by HOD/HOI (Maximum 150 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format).
Application Fee & Payment
Applicable test fee will be displayed as given below:
a)General and OBC category – Rs. 1000/-
b)SC, ST, EWS, and Differently abled – Rs. 500/-
Mode of PaymentNet Banking/Card Payment/UPI etc.
Before submitting, the candidate must check whether he has filled all the mandatory details.
(a)For making the payment candidates will be directed to payment gateway.
(b)Until the payment is made, the candidate will not be registered for the test.
(c)Please download the Acknowledgement Receipt for any future communication (if required).
(d)Candidates must fill the application form carefully, once submitted after payment of requisite fee, no edits/ modifications will be permitted.
Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) 2020 Exam Pattern
The exam will be conducted in a single shift for a duration of 180 minutes
The question paper will have two parts:
PART- A
1.Part A will have 60 compulsory multiple-choice questions of the level of 10+2 in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Each correct answer will be of one mark each
2.There will be negative marking and for each wrong answer, ½ (half) mark will be deducted.
PART-B
1.Part B will have multiple choice questions of bachelor’s level requiring thinking and analysis. There will be questions from basic Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology and allied areas as per syllabus attached
2.There will be 100 questions out of which the candidates will have to attempt 60 questions. Each correct answer will have a weightage of 3 marks
3.There will be negative marking and for each wrong answer, one mark will be deducted. Sample question papers are available on RCB website

Reservation Policy
There will be separate merit lists of qualified students for the various categories of students as per the Government of India norms. The participating institutions are required to follow the reservation rules as applicable to them.
Merit List
An All-India category-wise merit list of students appearing in the examination will be drawn. Based on the GAT-B rank, the participating institutions (as per Annexure-A) may conduct admissions and generate their own waiting list as per their respective norms.
Studentship Support
All students admitted under the DBT-supported programmes of any participating institution will be paid the stipend as under:
a)M.Sc. in Biotechnology & Allied AreasRs. 5000/- per month
b)M.Sc. in Agricultural BiotechnologyRs. 7500/- per month
c)M.Tech./M.V.Sc. programmesRs. 12000/- per month
