He can do anything to achieve his goal and uncover the mastermind behind a crime, even if it means starving himself or using the people he cares about and being rude to them for a necessary plan. He is also a great actor as he could convince John Watson, an excellent practitioner of medicine, that he was indeed sick with a deadly contagious disease. He complains about his master’s actions a lot, but at the end, he always complies with his orders and plans. He is loyal to Holmes because he knows that Holmes does it all to capture criminals. Therefore, because of that good cause, he assists Holmes in all his endeavours. Due to all the tremendous challenges and obstacles they have faced together, Watson has a strong friendship with Holmes.

He is the antagonist of the story, the person who tried to inject Holmes with a deadly contagious disease. He had previously killed his nephew, Victor Smith, in a similar manner.
