Azim Premji University Bengaluru announces Admission to LLM Program for session 2019

Azim Premji University LLM Admission 2019 - School of Policy and Governance (Law and Development) for application from eligible candidates for admission to the LLM Program starting in the academic year 2019-20 at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru LLM in Law and Development


LLM in Law and Development

  • The LL.M. in Law and Development will be a research and field intensive postgraduate program in law. The program includes mandatory courses on Law and Development, Law and Justice, Comparative Public Law and Legal Research Methods. Students may elect to do courses in a wide variety of fields (private and commercial law, human rights, tax law, livelihoods, environment and sustainability) and across a wide range of disciplines (economics, anthropology, political science, sociology, history and philosophy)
  • The program is designed for students who seek to make a mark in the legal system, government, civil society, academia and the world of ideas

  • Availability of online Application forms: Oct. 18
  • Last date for receipt of completed application form: 26th Jan 2019
  • National Entrance Test: 10th Feb 2019
  • Announcement of eligible candidates for personal interview: 28th Feb 2019
  • Personal interviews: March 2019
  • Commencement of Programme: July 2019


Eligibility Criteria for Azim Premji University LLM Admission 2019

  • Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB. 3 years / 5 years) from a recognized University in India or abroad
  • Candidates with relevant work experience are strongly encouraged to apply

Selection Process

  • Early Admission: Admission for LLM Program in the Early admissions window is closed now
  • Students were shortlisted based on the rank in the National Entrance Test conducted by Azim Premji University on 10th February 2019. Shortlisted candidates were called for a personal interview
  • Regular Admission: Applications invited for the Regular admissions for LLM in Law & Development. Only candidates who are appearing for CLAT or LSAT India 2019 are eligible to apply. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CLAT / LSAT India scores and will be called for a personal interview


National Entrance Test

  • Applicants will have to appear for the National Entrance Test that will assess the English Reading Comprehension, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Ability and General & Social Awareness. The test will be conducted in various cities across the country


National Entrance Test Structure
Part 1: (2 hours)

  • Reading Comprehension: 20 Multiple choice questions
  • Reasoning Ability: 10 Multiple choice questions
  • Quantitative Ability: 20 Multiple choice questions
  • General & Social Awareness: 30    Multiple choice questions
  • Total Questions: 80 Multiple choice questions

Part 2:  Essay (1 hour)

  • Legal Essay: 1 out of 3 questions to be attempted

Azim Premji University LLM Admission 2019 Application Process


  • Candidates have to login through the link on the website and register online with email ID and other details as required. On successful registration, an email will be sent to the registered email ID with a link to access the form and complete it online. Payment can be made online using a Debit/Credit card or via internet banking


  • Write to admissions@apu.edu.in for offline application form. The details on the form can be hand written and sent to Admissions Office along with the Demand Draft in favour of "Azim Premji Foundation for Development" and photographs on or before the last date. The completed application form should be mailed to: Admissions Office, Azim Premji University, PES Campus, Pixel Park, B Block, Electronics City, Hosur Road, Bengaluru-560100
  • On receipt of the application and payment, the application number will be communicated


Application Fee

  • An application fee of Rs.300/- to be remitted in favour of Azim Premji Foundation for Development. Applicant applying online can make payment via SBI Collect and applicant applying offline need to make payment through Demand Draft in favour of "Azim Premji Foundation for Development".
