Exam Scheme for AILET 2021

AILET 2020 Exam Pattern – National Law University, Delhi has released the exam date for All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2021. AILET 2021 will be held in pen-paper based test mode


The exam pattern for AILET 2021 will be different for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.), LL.M and Ph.D. Programs. The detailed exam pattern for these courses is mentioned below:

 

B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Exam Pattern

The paper is divided into five sections – English including Comprehension, General Knowledge (Current Affairs, General Science, History, Geography, Economics, and Civics), Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics
The question paper will contain total 150 multiple choice questions. The exam duration will be 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes). Each question will carry 1 mark. For every correct response, the candidate will be awarded 1 mark and for each incorrect response, there is a penalty of 0.25 marks.

LL.M Exam Pattern

The paper is divided into the following sections:

  • Law of Contracts
  • Law of Torts
  • Criminal Law
  • Constitutional Law
  • Legal Theory

In addition to the above, candidates will also have to write an essay on a given topic

The question paper will carry a maximum of 150 marks. There will be 100 objective type questions and 1 essay question. Each Objective type question will carry 1 mark. For every correct response, the candidate will be awarded 1 mark and for each incorrect response, there is a penalty of 0.25 marks. Question of an essay will be descriptive in nature.

The exam duration will be 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes).

 

Structure of Paper

The objective type section for Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Theory together will be of 100 marks and essay section will be of 50 marks.

 

PhD Exam Pattern

The entrance exam will comprise of two papers –

  • Paper 1 – Research Methodology
  • Paper 2 – Research Proposal Specific Paper

Paper 1

Paper 1 will comprise of 100 multiple choice questions of 100 marks and the time duration will be 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes)

Paper 2

Interested candidates have to submit a research proposal not more than 15 pages on the topic which candidates want to pursue a Ph.D. The research proposal shall contain:

  • Title
  • Statement of problem and background information on the subject
  • Research questions, hypothesis, and methodology
  • Research design
