Delhi University announces LLB and LLM admissions 2014

Delhi University announces admissions to its PG programmes for LLB and LLM courses for 2014 session.  These programmes are run by the Faculty of Law Department of Delhi University. The entrance tests for admission to first year of LL.B (3 year degree course) and LL.M for the year 2014-15 will be held in Delhi

Admission Procedure: Candidates need to clear the entrance exam, conducted by the university in order to get enrolled

Seats Availability: Base year: 2006-07, LL.B. (1500), LL.M (65); Increase: 54%, LL.B (810), LL.M (35);

Total: LL.B - 2310, LL.M - 100

Eligibility Criteria for LLB and LLM courses at DU:

LL.B Course: For general and other backward classes (OBC) candidates, graduate/ post-graduate degree from the university of Delhi or any other Indian or foreign university recognised as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate in either of them
However, the cut off marks for admission of OBC candidates shall be upto 10% less than the marks notified for general candidates in the entrance test

Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to other backward classes (OBC) category

Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to widows/wards of defence personnel

LL.M Course: For general category and other backward classes (OBC) candidates, a three-year/five-year LLB degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or foreign university recognised as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate

However, the cut off marks for admission of OBC candidates shall be upto 10% less than the marks notified for general candidates in the entrance test

The candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) having a three year/five-year LLB degree from the University of Delhi or any other Indian or foreign University recognised as equivalent by the University of Delhi with at least 45% marks or an equivalent grade point in the aggregate in either of them

Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to widows/wards of ex-servicemen/serving personnel (CW) category

Entrance Test:

i) The LL.M Entrance Test 2014 will be held at Delhi for which reporting time is 09.30 a.m on Sunday, 15th June 2014 and Test will start at 10.00 a.m. After 10.00 a.m. no candidate will be permitted to enter the examination hall

The test will be of two hours duration starting from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon

ii) The test paper will consist of one question paper containing 175 objective-type questions with multiple choice answers relating to Constitutional Law of India, Jurisprudence, Law of Contracts (General Principles), Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Family Law of Marriage & Divorce and Public International Law (Law of Peace)

iii) The language of the entrance test will be English

iv) Each question shall carry four marks. For every correct answer, four marks will be awarded and for every incorrect answer, one mark will be deducted

No mark will be awarded or deducted for a question which is left unanswered

v) The general instructions to the candidates will be supplied later on the University website www.du.ac.in

Application Form: Before filling the Application Form for the LL.B/LL.M Entrance Test 2014, kindly read the contents of this Bulletin of Information carefully; they are binding even if one does not read the same

Filling in the Entrance Test Form: All applications have to be online

The information given by an applicant in the application regarding category - General, SC/ST OBC/ PH or Widows/Wards of armed forces personnel shall be final

Furnishing of false, wrong or inaccurate information may lead to cancellation of the Test result, admission, examination, forfeiture of degree and even prosecution in appropriate cases

Incomplete applications may be rejected and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard
The receipt of an application will not mean that the application is complete

A blind candidate cannot himself/herself engage a writer but would be provided a writer by the University of Delhi. All such candidates must clearly mention his/her visual handicap in the Application Form
The candidate must approach the University authorities in this regard

The fact that the candidate has appeared or has been allowed to appear in the Test will not mean that he/she has a claim to admission unless he/she produces all the prescribed documents including those relating to eligibility in support of his/her claim and complies with all the prescribed requirements

Admit Card:

The Central registration Unit shall make available the Admit Card to the applicant according to the provision separately announced by the University

Any candidate who has not received the admit card two weeks after the last date or by 10th May 2014 should contact the Dy Registar (Aca) for further assistance in this regard

No candidate will be allowed to appear in the Entrance Test without a valid Admission Ticket

The candidates are advised to preserve the Admission Ticket till the admissions are finalized and produce the same on every occasion while visiting the office of the Admission Committee, Faculty of Law

Last date for submission of Application Form: 10th March to 18th April 2014
Date of LL.B Entrance Test: 08th June 2014 (Sunday at 02.00 p.m.)
Date of LL.M Entrance Test: 15th June 2014 (Sunday at 10:00 a.m.)
Result of Entrance Tests: Expected within two weeks of the respective tests
Admissions by Counseling: 01st July 2014 to 08th Aug 2014
