Supreme Court approves NEET for admission to medical courses
The Supreme Court has fixed the schedule for the All India Common Entrance Test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses and said that the order will supersede all the orders related to medical admissions.
The order would imply that all government colleges, deemed universities and private medical colleges would be covered under NEET and the entrance tests already conducted or slated to be conducted separately stands scrapped.
The Supreme Court has also approved the scheduled placed before it by the Health Ministry, CBSE and Medical Council of India. The All India Pre Medical Test to be conducted on May 1 shall be considered as the phase-1 of the National Eligibility Entrance Test. However, the candidates who have not applied for AIPMT will be allowed to appear in phase-2 of NEET scheduled on July 24.
The combined result of both rounds of NEET will be declared by August 17. The Apex Court has set the deadline to complete the admission process by September 30.
NEET Important Updates
The NEET-UG Entrance Examination by CBSE shall consist of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.
The NEET will comprise 180 objectives questions designed by the Medical Council of India considering the question papers of state entrance tests.
