Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has released notification for the eligible candidates for admission to the M.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic Diploma in Nursing, M.Sc. in Applied Medical Sciences, Master of Public Health (MPH) and PhD Courses through an Entrance Examination for August 2018 Session

Eligibility Criteria

M.Sc. (Nursing) Course
Candidates should have passed the qualification of B.Sc. Nursing degree of this Institute or any other University accepted as equivalent thereof;
B.Sc. Nursing graduate should have one-year of experience in a hospital or in a College or in a School of Nursing or in Community Health Program after registration in State Nursing Council. Minimum of one year of work experience prior or after Post-basic B.Sc. Nursing
Candidate shall be medically fit
Candidates who have obtained Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.Sc Nursing) qualification from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) are NOT eligible for admission to M.Sc. (N) Course at JIPMER

M.Sc. Courses (Allied Medical Sciences): Candidate should have qualified in a 3-year B.Sc. Degree Exam of a recognized University with Biochemistry or Chemistry as main subject with Biology/Botany/Zoology as ancillary subject or;
Candidates with B.Sc. Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized University

Method of Selection: MCQ paper in the subject of B.Sc. Biochemistry at the level of B.Sc. Standard

M.Sc. (MLT-Microbiology) Course: Candidates should have qualified in a 3 years B.Sc. Degree Examination of a recognized University with Microbiology/Biotechnology as main subject with Biology/Botany/Zoology as ancillary subject/B.Sc. Zoology or;
Candidates with B.Sc. Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized university

Method of Selection: MCQ paper in the subject of Microbiology at the level of B.Sc. Standard

M.Sc. (MLT-Cyto Pathology) Course: Applicants should have qualified in a 3 years B.Sc. Degree Exam of a recognized University with Medical Lab Technology/Biotechnology as main subject with Biology/Botany/Zoology as ancillary subject/B.Sc. Zoology

Method of Selection: MCQ paper in the subject of B.Sc. Medical Lab Technology/Cyto Pathology at the level of B.Sc. standard

M.Sc. (Medical Physiology) Course: Applicants should have qualified in B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc (3-years) in Physiology/Biotechnology as main subject with Biology/Botany/Zoology as ancillary subject/B.Sc Zoology or;
Candidates with B.Sc degree in Medical Lab Technology from a recognized University

 

Selection Procedure

The Entrance Examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) /online; MCQ paper in the subject of Human Physiology at the level of B.Sc. Standard

Post Basic Diploma in Nursing (PBDN) Course: Candidates must be a registered nurse (R.N. & R.M.) or equivalent. Possess Diploma in General nursing and Midwifery with one-year experience as Staff Nurse or B.Sc. Nursing or equivalent. The prescribed experience will be calculated only after obtaining the license from the state nursing council

Master of Public Health (MPH) Course: Any applicant with qualification of MBBS Degree/ BDS (Dental)/BE/B.Tech (Any Branch)/B.Sc (Nursing)/B.V.Sc (Veterinary Science) /AYUSH / Allied Health or Social Sciences of any recognized University/Statutory Body, in first attempt with at least 50% marks in aggregate
Two years of completed work, experience in Public Health System is desirable (on or before 31st July 2018). Medical/Nursing Graduates should have registered with their respective state Registration Council

PhD Program
Qualification as given below with a minimum of 55% or equivalent grade in any of the following examinations:M.Sc./MPhil Degree/PG degree in any branch of Life Sciences of a recognized University; or MBBS Degree of recognized University; or DM/M.Ch/MD/DNB or equivalent Degree; or
Qualified in any of the three National Eligibility Tests (NET) for PhD-JRF under DBT/DST/ ICMR/ UGC JRF qualified candidates also have to submit application through online process. However, they need not appear for the entrance test

Selection Procedure
The examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT)/online. The paper is common for all the PhD Courses; it consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) with sections on Research Methodology, Statistics, and Ethics of single best response type. The duration of the test is one and half-hours

Hall Ticket
Hall Tickets for the entrance exam shall be available for download to eligible candidates, whose applications are complete and accurate in all respect. The hall ticket will contain roll number, name, photo, signature and venue of the exam. To rectify discrepancy if any the candidate should contact the help desk immediately
Hall ticket can be downloaded from the website www.jipmer.edu.in as per the dateline given in the prospectus. NO candidate will be allowed to appear for the Entrance Exam unless he/she hold the Hall Ticket from the website of JIPMER

Exam Cities
The Exam centres are tentatively proposed in 7 cities all over India. List of Cities is as Ambala, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puducherry, Ranchi, Sonipat, Trivandrum and Vijayawada

Submission of Application through online mode only; candidates seeking admission to entrance examination are required to apply online. Mode of Payments
Only through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card. Demand Draft drawn in the favour of "The Accounts Officer, JIPMER," Payable at Pondicherry
Candidate opting for demand draft payment should send hard copy of the application, along with demand draft, to the Registrar (Academic), JIPMER, D’Nagar Post, Gorimedu, Pondicherry-605006, on or before the last date

Application fees for each category as mentioned below to be paid by the candidate using ANY ONE of the following mode of payment. No other mode of payment will be accepted.

OPH - Exempted from Application Fees

Fees for Applying for both P.B.D & M.Sc. Nursing Courses
General (UR) - Rs.2000 + Transaction Charges as applicable
OBC - Rs.2000 + Transaction Charges as applicable
SC/ST - Rs.1600 + Transaction Charges as applicable
OPH - Exempted from Application Fees
For PhD Course: INR 1000/-
Application Fees exempted for OPH Candidates subject to submission of Medical Certificate indicating the disability along with a copy of their completed application to the "Registrar (Academic), Academic Section, III-Floor, JIPMER Academic Center, Dhanvantri Nagar Post, Puducherry-605006, on or before 25th May 2018 (05.00 pm)
