Medical Biotechnology, M.Sc. Pharmacology, M.Sc. Anatomy & M.Sc. Respiratory Care Courses of July 2019 Session.

About the Course
Admission to M.Sc Pharmacology and M.Sc Respiratory Care courses is being conducted at the Institute twice in a year i.e. January and July session every year. Master of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology course conducted for January session only.

The admission to the courses imparted at the Institute is made on merit on all India basis by holding an entrance examination by the Institute, after issuing a country wide admission notice

The admission notice is published in leading English Newspapers of India usually during February/March for July session & Sept/Oct. for January session.

Eligibility Criteria for PGIMER Chandigarh M.Sc. Admission 2019

Qualification Requirements
 
M. Sc. (Biochemistry)

  1. B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons.) or B.Sc. (Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry taken together) from a recognized University or Institute with 55% marks for general category and 50% for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Tribes/OBC

M.Sc. (Medical Biotechnology)

  1. B.Sc. with 55% marks in any subject of Life/Biological Sciences for General category and 50% marks for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category or MBBS from a recognized University / Institute

M.Sc. Pharmacology

  1. MBBS passed or its equivalent qualification from a University / Institute recognized by the Medical Council of India or B.Sc (Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry taken together) or B.V.Sc. or B. Pharma passed from a recognized University. Candidates who possess the qualification of MBBS should not have more than one attempt made during MBBS course. For Gen/OBC candidates the candidates belonging to SC/ST with two attempts during MBBS course will be eligible. The candidates who have a “Failure” in the MBBS examination or “Compartment” or “Reappear” in the examination will constitute an attempt. All candidates who fulfill the eligibility qualifications mentioned above shall appear in a theory paper containing objective type of question. The duration of theory paper will be one and half hours
  2. The question paper will comprise 100 multiple choice questions relating to fundamentals of Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, physiology, and Pharmacology.

M.Sc. (Anatomy)

  1. The candidate must possess one of the following qualifications and should have secured at least 55% marks for general category (50% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates) in aggregate in the qualifying examination:
  2. MBBS/BDS
  3. B.V.Sc
  4. B.Sc with Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry
  5. B.Sc. Nursing
  6. Bachelor of Physical Therapy Or
  7. M.Sc. Physical Anthropology, Zoology or Human Biology with 50% marks for General category and 45% marks for SC/ST/OBC category candidates

M.Sc. (Respiratory Care)

  1. For General Candidate: B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology or B.Sc. in Nursing or B.Sc. Medical or Bachelor of Physiotherapy from any University within India or equivalent degree from any other recognized University/Institute with at least 55% marks
  2. For Sponsored Candidate: B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology or B.Sc. in Nursing or B.Sc. Medical or Bachelor of Physiotherapy from any University within India or equivalent degree from any other recognized University/Institute with at least 55% marks and at least 3 years experience in their respective fields after obtaining qualification of B.Sc. A candidate applying for admission as a sponsored/deputed candidate is required to take the printout of the online application form and furnish the following certificates with his/her application through his/her employer/Sponsoring Authority for admission to the course.

Selection Procedure

M.Sc. Biochemistry & Med. Biotechnology

  1. The selection of candidates for M.Sc Biochemistry & Med. Biotechnology courses will be made on the basis of a theory paper carrying 100 marks. All candidates who fulfill the eligibility qualifications mentioned above shall appear in a theory paper containing objective type of questions. The duration of the theory paper will be one and half hours.

PART-1 (60 MARKS)

  1. Common to all candidates applying for admission to M.Sc. (Biochemistry) and M.Sc. (Medical Biotechnology) as per details given below:
  2. Chemical Sciences: 15 marks
  3. Physics/Biophysics: 15 marks
  4. General Mathematics/Statistics: 10 marks
  5. Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology): 20 marks

 
PART-2 (40 MARKS)

SECTION-A

  1. Biochemistry: 30 marks
  2. Molecular (Biology): 10 marks
  3. Section- A will be attempted by the candidates seeking admission to

M.Sc (Biochemistry) Course SECTION-B

  1. Molecular Biology: 20 marks
  2. Human Genetics: 20 marks
  3. Section-B will be attempted by the candidates seeking admission to

M.Sc. Medical Biotechnology Course

  1. Those appearing for both specialties will be given extra half an hour to attempt the second section

M.Sc. Anatomy, Pharmacology & Respiratory Care Courses

  1. The selection of candidates for M.Sc Anatomy, Pharmacology & Respiratory Care will be made on the basis of a theory paper carrying 100 marks. All candidates who fulfill the eligibility qualifications mentioned above shall appear in a theory paper containing objective type of question.

Details of Fee and Other Dues

  1. The following fees etc. will be payable by each candidate
  2. a) Registration Fee: Rs.500/-
  3. b) Tuition Fee: Rs.350/- per annum
  4. c) Laboratory Fees: Rs.900/- per annum
  5. d) Security: Rs.1000/- (Refundable) to be deposited by every candidate for the recovery of any breakage loss of the Lab equipment etc. and is refundable on completion of the course
  6. e) Amalgamated Fund: Rs.60/- p.m. (payable half yearly)

  2. For SC/ST Candidates: Rs.800/-
  3. PWD: Exempted from fee

Payment of Mode

  1. All the candidates are directed to deposit the above fees in the branches of State Bank of India by filling the Challan form in the name of "Director, PGIMER", Chandigarh (Examination) in the Power Jyoti Account No. 32211613319 and those candidates who have SBI account can also pay their fee through i-collect service of SBI

PGIMER Chandigarh M.Sc Admission 2019 Application Process

  1. Candidates are required to apply online through PGIMER, Chandigarh website www.pgimer.edu.in. No other means/mode of application (through post, email, fax, deposit of CV etc.) will be accepted
  2. The candidate will open the Online Application Form available on the website and fill up various columns
  3. Firstly, ensure that you have a valid personal email ID; in case, a candidate does not have a valid personal email ID, he/she should create his/her new email ID before applying Online
  4. Candidates should keep checking the inbox or even the spam box of this email id regularly during the Admission process as PGIMER might send intimations related to admissions etc.
  5. The application, complete in all respects accompanied with all the relevant documents should reach the office of Registrar, PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh on or before the closing date
  6. The Fees for General/OBC/OPH Candidates is Rs.1000/- and for SC/ST Rs.800/- (including category i.e. General or SC/ST)
