Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) School of Law was established in the year 2005. It offers Certificate, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate in Law through Distance mode. It offers Ph.D. in Law in regular mode.

IGNOU offers admission twice a year – January & July cycles. Admission is done based on merit. Candidates can submit applications in either Online or Offline mode.
The Certificate courses in Law are offered for six months. Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma courses are offered for one year. Post Graduate Certificate is offered for six months. The duration of the Ph.D. course is three years.

IGNOU Law Courses, Eligibility, Fees & Duration – Certificate, Diploma, Ph.D.

IGNOU offers variousCertificate courses, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Post Graduate Certificate and Ph.D. in Law courses. Except for Ph.D., every course in law conducted by IGNOU is through Distance mode. Ph.D. in Law is in Regular mode. Certificate course and Post Graduate Certificate is of 6 months duration, Diploma course and Post Graduate Diploma is of one-year duration. Ph.D. is of three years duration. IGNOU Law Courses – Eligibility Criteria

For Certificate courses and Diploma courses, candidates must have passed 10+2 examinations from a recognized board Or Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) from IGNOU. For Post Graduate Diploma courses and Certificate in Co-Operation, Co-Operative Law (CCLBL), candidates must have passed Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
For Post Graduate Certificate in Cyber Law (PGCCL), the candidate must have passed Graduate in any discipline OR five-year BA LLB course (Fourth/Fifth-year student who passed three-years) from a recognized university. For Post Graduate Certificate in Patent Practice (PGCPP), the candidate must have passed a Graduate degree in Law, Science, Technology, Medicine OR five-year BA LLB course (Fourth/Fifth-year student who passed three-years) from a recognized university.
In the case of Doctor of Philosophy in Law (PHDLE), a candidate must have passed an LLM degree with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university.

IGNOU Admission Process 2022: Law Courses

IGNOU offers admission to Law courses for which candidates can apply through Online or Offline mode. Admission is done based on the merit of the previous examination.

Online Mode:

1. Visit the official website of the university.
2. Click on ‘Register Online’ and click on the ‘Fresh Registration’ option.
3. Next, click on ‘Register Yourself’ and fill up the information.
4. Make a unique ID and password.
5. Log in using ID and password and fill the information required.
6. Upload the required documents, pay application fees and submit the application.

Offline Mode:

1. Visit the nearest regional centre of IGNOU.
2. Submit the application form along with a Demand Draft (DD) in favour of IGNOU to pay the application fees.
3. An application confirmation message will be received via post, email or message within 45 business days.

Application Fees: INR 200

Documents required for submitting Application:

1. Passport size Photograph
2. Signature
3. Age Proof (10th Passing Certificate/Birth Certificate)
4. Academic Certificates and Marksheets
5. Experience Certificate (if Any)
