Applications are invited on three A4 size paper (two pages for the application proforma and one page for the identification card) according to format given below from intending candidates of Indian nationality for admission to 5½ years, BHMS Degree Course in Homoeopathy (including one year compulsory rotatory Internship) at the National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata, affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences for the academic year 2012-2013

Eligibility: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST candidates) are eligible to apply
Age Limit: To be eligible for the All India Common Admission Test, the candidate should attain 17 years but not crossed the age of 25 years as on by 31st December, 2012
Those born on before 31st December, 1987 or after 1st January, 1996 are not eligible

For the candidates who have appeared for Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination, candidature will be taken into consideration provided that the result of that examination is published before the admission and they have secured the required percentage of marks which has to be substantiated by production of documentary proof Blind (including colour blind), deaf, and/or dumb candidates are not eligible to apply for the course
Selection: In this academic year 93 (Ninety three) seats shall be available for admission to the BHMS degree course, out of this following seats are reserved for different categories of candidates
Fourteen (14) seats are for the candidates nominated from the following States/Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir (01), Manipur (01), Meghalaya (01), Mizoram (02), Nagaland (01), Sikkim (01), Tripura (02), Andaman and Nicobar Island (01), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (01), Daman and Diu (01), Lakshadweep (01) and Puducherry (01)
Six (06) seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals of which five (05) seats are for candidates from Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi Sectoral Technical and Economic Co-operation (BIMSTEC) countries nominated by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Azad Bhavan, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi and One (01) seat is reserved for Foreign National candidates under self-financing scheme nominated by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India
Ten (10) seats are reserved for candidates sponsored by Govt of Sri Lanka through the Dept of AYUSH, Govt of India (if the scheduled number of candidates are not sponsored by Govt of Sri Lanka, those seats shall remain vacant; no other candidate will be admitted against these seats)
Two (02) seats are reserved for candidates from Malaysia as per directive of Govt of India
The remaining seats will be filled up through All-India Admission Test of three hours duration
The pattern of questions will be of multiple choice type, total number of questions will be 200; Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions), Biology (60 questions) and General Knowledge (20 questions)
There will be Negative marking for wrong answers
Reservation: Reservation including to those belonging to Orthopaedically Challenged (locomotor disability involving the lower limb)/OBC category will be made as per extant reservation instructions
The candidates who are desirous of availing such reservation facilities under OBC quota are required to enclose attested copy of their OBC certificate issued by appropriate authority along with a declaration that she/he does not belong to creamy layer of the society (for the format see the Institute website and the attested copy must be as prescribed)
Application form: Filled in application (in candidate’s own handwriting) is to be sent along with Bank draft for Rs 500/- (Rs five hundred only) in favour of Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, payable at Kolkata (IPO/ Cheque/ Cash/Money order will not be accepted)
No Bank draft is required in case of SC/ST candidates but a copy of caste certificate attested by a Gazetted Officer should accompany the application
Candidates who claim to belong to any one of the SC/ST should submit in support of his/her claim an attested/certified copy of a certificate along with the filled in form
Enclose recent, high contrast 3.5cmx4.5cm identical copies of colour photograph, clearly showing full head, face, shoulders and both ears without wearing any cap/hat/sunglasses, is required
Polaroid photo is not acceptable
Photograph must have been taken on or after 31st March, 2012 with a placard indicating the name of the candidate and the date of taking the photograph
The name and date of the photograph must be clear and legible
Two (02) copies of the photographs are to be pasted on the specified area on the application, which should be attested by a Gazetted Officer after pasting with part of signature on the photograph and part of signature on the application form, other 02 (two) un pasted should be signed on the reverse by the candidate
Applications incomplete and/or accompanied by hazy, old or unidentifiable photographs are liable to be rejected without assigning any reason
Candidates must put their full signature in all the places asked for at all the stages of admission process
Candidates need not send the photo copies of testimonials with application (except attested copy of caste certificate in case of SC/ST candidates claiming exemption from paying application fee) and OBC/ Orthopaedically Handicapped claiming for reservation in admission, but the original caste certificate must be submitted for verification if provisionally selected
The duly filled in application should reach the office of the Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Block-GE, Sector-III, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700106 on or before 30th April, 2012
Admit Card and prospectus will be sent by post and list of candidates with their roll numbers and centres will also be available in the National Institute of Homoeopathy website http://www.nih.nic.in
List of eligible candidates/their roll numbers/name of allotted centre for the All India Admission Test, Result of admission test, List of candidates eligible for counselling/date of counselling and venue etc will be available in the Institute website mentioned earlier
Though intimation will be sent by post, candidates are requested to check the website periodically as Institute will not be responsible for non-receipt/delay in receipt of communications sent by post
Candidates should ascertain their own eligibility before applying
Appearance in the admission test or empanelment in the merit list is purely provisional subject to confirmation of fulfillment of their eligibility before actual admission (if selected)
Money once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances
Incomplete/illegible application, application not accompanied by the necessary enclosures etc will be summarily rejected
Admission Test: The All India Admission Test will be held at seven centres Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram, Bhopal

Date of publication of the result of Admission Test: 18th June, 2012
Date of counselling (and of admission): 03rd-04th July, 2012
Result of the qualified candidates will be communicated by post and the merit list will also be available in the website http://www.nih.nic.in
