Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences Admission into Master of Physiotherapy Course 2019 through Entrance Exam

NIMS Hyderabad MPT Admission 2019 - Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science Hyderabad, announces admission for Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) Course through entrance exam. Applications are invited from eligible candidates of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States for admission into MPT course for the year 2019.

 

About NIMS

  1. Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences is a State‐wide University as declared by the Presidential Order 1974.
  2. The admission to the course shall be regulated as per Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order, 1974 as issued in GOP No.646 d.td 10th July 1979 of Education (W) Dept of Govt of A.P. & as amended from time to time.

Important Dates

  1. Availability of Application on Website: 10th September 2019

  1. Applications are invited from eligible candidates of Telangana State for admission into Master of Physiotherapy Course for the year 2019
  2. MPT - Musculoskeletal Sciences - 05 Seats; Duration - 2 years
  3. MPT - Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Sciences - 05 Seats; Duration - 2 years
  4. MPT ‐ Neurosciences - 05 Seats; Duration - 2 years
  5. Note: One seat is reserved for in-service candidate of NIMS who satisfies the requisite qualifications and qualifies himself/herself in entrance examination

Eligibility Criteria

Prior Qualification required

  1. Candidate holding a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized University and completed/shall be completing 6 months internship by 30th September 2019 in India or a Foreign University with at least 10+2+4 years of educational pattern and a minimum of 6 months internship. Deadline for completion of internship is 30th September 2019.
  2. The candidates who have already registered for any degree or studying regular course and applying for admission to another course in NIMS, shall resign such training course in the Institute duly fulfilling the conditions of the bond and failure to do so, their applications for admission to the other course will be rejected

 

Age Criteria

  1. The minimum age for admission shall be 22 years completed as on 31st December 2019 and should not be more than 35 years as on 31st December 2019
  2. Upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years in the case of SC/ST candidates; for in‐service (NIMS) candidates, the age limit is not applicable

 

Statutory Reservations

  1. Rule of reservation for SC/ST & OBC (A, B, C, D & E) shall be applied as per 100 points roster
  2. BC‐E reservation: There shall be 4% reservation under BC‐E as per memo No.19392/A2/2007‐1 dated 29‐11‐2007
  3. The BC‐E certificate based on GOMs No.23, Backward classes welfare (C2), dated 7th July 2007 should be obtained from Mandal Revenue Officer/Tahsildar
  4. Admission under BC‐E category is subject to condition of further orders issued either by the Govt of Telangana/ Andhra Pradesh or Honorable High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana & Andhra Pradesh or Honorable Supreme Court of India
  5. The statutory reservations shall be followed by taking the total number of seats in all specialties
  6. The seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes shall be made available to Scheduled Castes and Vice‐versa, if qualified candidates are not available in the category
  7. If qualified candidates belonging to backward classes are not available to fill up the seats reserved for them, the left over seats shall be treated as unreserved and shall be filled up with qualified candidates of General pool

 

Local Area Reservations

  1. The local area reservations are made as per the procedure described in the Annexure IV of GOP No. 646 dated 10th July 1979 and may be seen at www.nims.edu.in
  2. The following allocations are accordingly made for the three regions of the State of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
  3. Andhra University (AU): 42%
  4. Osmania University (OU): 36% and
  5. Sri Venkateswara University (SVU): 22%

Selection Process

  1. Selection will be made based on the performance of the candidates at the entrance test; in case of equality of marks in the entrance exam the following criteria will be adopted to resolve the ties:
  2. Candidate obtaining higher total percentage of marks in BPT exam followed by
  3. Candidate elder in age will be placed higher in the merit list in that order
  4. The marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam and the names of candidates qualified for counselling will be displayed on the notice board of the institute/website on the date notified
  5. Candidates have to report for counselling in person with a counselling fee of Rs.25000/‐ (Rupees twenty five thousand only)
  6. No request for postponing the date of counselling or request to appear at an earlier date shall be entertained
  7. This amount will be adjusted against the fee to be paid along with the balance of the annual fee to be collected at the time of admission

 

Application Procedure

  1. The Online Application Registration, Notification and instructions to fill the application is available at NIMS Website www.nims.edu.in from 11.00 AM on 10th September 2019 till 5.00 PM of 21st September 2019
  2. The candidates are advised to take a print out of the prospectus/instructions to fill the application form from the NIMS website www.nims.edu.in before proceeding to fill the online application form
  3. Please note that all the columns in the application form require to be filled in. Incomplete and hand-written application forms are liable to be rejected
  4. The filled in application form will have to be printed, signed and sent to Associate Dean, Aptitude Testing, 2nd floor, Old OPD Block, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta, Hyderabad-500082 on or before due date along with all the documents mentioned in the Annexure I and a demand draft
  5. A Demand Draft for Rs.1100/‐ drawn in favour of the Director, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences or NIMS Cash Receipt will have to be submitted simultaneously along with the filled‐in application
  6. The candidate must write his/her name and the course applied for on the back side of Bank Draft/NIMS Cash Receipt
  7. Application fee is non‐refundable even if the application is summarily rejected
  8. The institute will not be responsible for non‐receipt of applications or delay in postal transit
  9. The candidates who are in‐service seeking admission into MPT course shall submit service certificate and No Objection Certificate in original issued only by the appointing authority along with the application

 

Entrance Test Scheme

  • There shall be a common entrance test consisting of multiple choice (objective) questions (MCQs) as described below:
  • Specialty MCQs in musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and pulmonary and neurosciences (approximately 50%) related to basic and clinical sciences, biomechanics, physiotherapy techniques, critical care and rehabilitation
  • General MCQs (approximately 50%) in general clinical sciences (general medicine, general surgery, paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, electrotherapy, exercise therapy, first‐aid, resuscitations, social & preventive medicine, radiology, sociology and psychology)
  • The selection shall be by an entrance test consisting 60 multiple‐choice questions covering the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course to be answered in 60 minutes
  • The syllabus for entrance test shall be that of BPT standard of the Universities of Telangana/Andhra Pradesh States
  • The entrance test shall be conducted at the venue and date and time specified by the institute
  • Hall Tickets will be sent to the candidates through e‐mail or will be issued in person; the qualifying marks to be eligible for admission are 50%; in the case of SC/ST candidates the minimum qualifying marks at the entrance test shall be 40%
  • All requests for re‐evaluation have to be made within the stipulated time along with the copy of the hall‐ticket and payment of Rs.1500/‐ by paying cash in the NIMS Cash Counter in person
  • Request for re‐evaluation of the OMR answer sheet of the entrance examination shall not be entertained beyond the time and date as stipulated by the institute
