Tamil Nadu Medical Admission MBBS BDS 2018- Admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses in Tamilnadu Government Medical and Dental Colleges and Govt. Seats in Self-Financing Medical and Dental College affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University and Rajah Muthiah Medical /Dental College affiliated to Annamalai University for the academic session 2018-19


Application for admission to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses under Management Quota and NRI category in Self Financing Medical/Dental Colleges in Tamil Nandu for 2018-19, can be submitted up 05.00 pm on 19th June 2018

Seats Availability

  • From the total number of MBBS/BDS seats available in each Government Medical /Dental College, 15% of the seats are surrendered to All India Quota and the remaining 85% of seats are allotted to State Quota for the academic year 2018-19
  • The eligibility for admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses within the respective categories shall be based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test {NEET UG 2018)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should be a Citizen of India
  • Overseas Citizen of India, who are registered under Section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 {Central Act 57 of 1955) are eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS courses subject to the production of proof of such registration. However, OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservation and will be treated as Open Category

Nativity

  • {a) Candidates should be Native of Tamil Nadu
  • {b) Candidates belonging to other States cannot claim nativity of Tamil Nadu.
  • {c) Candidates who have applied for NEET UG-2018 as a person from other State cannot claim as a Native of Tamil Nadu.
  • {d) Candidates belonging to Native of Tamil Nadu who have studied Standard VI to Standard XII in schools of Tamil Nadu need not submit their “Nativity Certificate”
  • {e) Permanent Residence Certificate in lieu of Nativity Certificate will not be accepted.
  • {f) Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu, but studied from Standard VI to Standard XII outside Tamil Nadu either partly or completely in one or more States should produce the true copies of their parent’s certificates such as Birth Certificate / SSLC/10th / 12th / Degree/ Diploma/ Professional course and Ration Card / Passport to substantiate their place of birth in Tamil Nadu, to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate along with the Nativity Certificate of the candidate. Otherwise, they will be considered under Open Category.
  • {g) Other State candidates who are not native of Tamil Nadu should have studied Standard VI to Standard XII in Tamil Nadu will be treated as Open Category.
  • {h) It is made clear that the candidate should have applied for NEET UG - 2018 as a candidate of Tamil Nadu.

Age Limit

  • ThecandidateshouldhavecompletedSeventeenyearsofageonorbefore31st December 2018

Educational Qualifications:

  • In compliance to the amendment to Section 10{D) of the Medical Council of India, 1956 and Section 10{D) of Dentist Act, 1948 and Hon’ble Supreme Court of India orders, the eligibility for admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses within the respective categories shall be based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test {NEET UG - 2018)
  • In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in ‘National Eligibility cum-Entrance Test to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses held for the year 2018-2019. However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Class, Backward Class {Muslim) and Most Backward Class/Denotified Community, the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile in ‘National Eligibility cum-Entrance Test to MBBS/BDS Degree Course held for the said academic year. In respect of candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs terms of Clause 4{a) iv {of regulations), the minimum mark shall be at 45th percentile in National Eligibility cum- Entrance Test to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses held for the said academic year.
  • Provided when sufficient number of candidates in the respective categories fail to secure minimum marks as prescribed in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test held for any academic year for admission to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses, the Central Govt. in consultation with Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India may at its discretion lower the minimum marks required for admission to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses for candidates belonging to respective categories and marks so lowered by the Central Govt. shall be applicable for the said academic year only. If such situation arises, fresh applications will not be entertained
  • To be eligible for admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses, a candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology at the qualifying Examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Class, Backward Class {Muslim) and Most Backward Class/Denotified Community, the minimum marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken together in qualifying examination shall be 40% instead of 50%. In respect of candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum marks in qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken together in qualifying examination shall be 45% instead of 50%

Ineligibility Criteria

  • {a) Private candidates, who have passed H.S.C. or in the equivalent Board examinations in the Vocational Stream as their elective or specialization are not eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS Degree Courses.
  • b) The selection and admission of candidates of other Universities / Boards will be provisional, subject to the recognition of the qualifying examination by the TamilNadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University into which the candidate gets admitted. In case, the recognition is not accorded for the admission of the candidate on any ground, the provisional allotment will not entitle the candidate for the continuance of the course and the admission will be cancelled.
  • {c) Candidates presently pursuing the MBBS / equivalent course are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the MBBS Course once again
  • {d) Candidates presently pursuing the BDS course are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the BDS Course again

Selection Procedure

  • The admission shall be made on the basis of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test NEET-UG 2018 score for MBBS/BDS Degree Courses for the year 2018-2019 for the State Quota seats in Government Medical/ Dental Colleges and Government Quota Seats in Self Financing Private Medical/Dental Colleges including the seats surrendered to Govt. by Rajah Muthiah Medical and Dental College, Annamalai University, Chidhambaram

Rank List

  • Rank list of the eligible candidates shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test {NEET UG-2018) and candidates shall be admitted to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses from the said rank list only

Counselling Procedure

  • The selection will be made based on NEET - UG 2018 score and by counselling through Single Window System following the rule of reservation by the
  • Government of Tamil Nadu as follows
  • Open Competition -31%
  • Backward Class-30%
  • Most Backward Class-20%
  • Scheduled Caste-18%
  • Scheduled Tribe-1%
  • Within the 30% reservation for Backward Classes, 3.5% will be provided for Muslims and 16% of seats out of the 18% quota earmarked to Scheduled Caste shall be allocated to the Arunthathiyar Community

Application Procedure

  • Candidates should submit filled in application form along with the required enclosures
  • The application forms will be available from 11th June 2018 to 18th June 2018 from 10.00 A.M to 5.00 P.M. at all Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges and Tamil Nadu Government Dental College
  • Applications can also be downloaded from our official websites: www.tnhealth.orgwww.tnmedicalselection.org
  • If a candidate applies for MBBS/BDS Degree Courses in forms other than the one prescribed by the Selection Committee, then that application will be summarily rejected
  • Candidates seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses 2018-2019 session in Tamil Nadu Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges, Govt. Seats in Self Financing Medical/Dental Colleges affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University & Rajah Muthiah Medical/Dental College, Annamalai University, Chidhambaram, should submit the filled in application form with necessary enclosures which should reach the following address on or before 19th June 2018 by 5.00 P.M.
  • Filled in downloaded application along with necessary enclosures should be send in an envelope measuring 24 X 12 cm superscribed as “APPLICATION FOR MBBS/BDS DEGREE COURSES 2018-2019 SESSION” to “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10” before the last date along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- [non-refundable] towards the cost of application form drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk” and payable at Chennai
  • The name of the candidate, Contact Number and the name of Course {MBBS/BDS) should be written on the reverse of the Demand Draft. The template with requisite details available for download should be printed and pasted on the cover
