Punjab Medical Entrance Test (PMET) 2016

The Punjab Medical Entrance Test (PMET) 2016 will be conducted on 15th May 2016 by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot. The exam is held for taking admission to Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Programs for the academic session 2016.

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot conducts Pre Medical Entrance Test (PMET) for the admissions to MBBS/BDS Courses in Government/Private Medical/Dental Colleges of the State

All necessary information regarding the taking of PMET-2016, allocation of merit and seeking admission to MBBS & BDS courses in the various Medical & Dental Colleges of Punjab affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot

Punjab Medical Entrance Test which is more frequently known as PMET. The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences organizes this Entrance Exam

Eligibility Criteria for PMET 2016

The Governor of Punjab is pleased to notify the admissions to Under - Graduate Degree Courses i.e. MBBS / BDS for the year 2016 in the Govt. & Private Medical/Dental Institutes in the State of Punjab

a) Candidate must be an Indian Ciziten

b) Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December 2016 of the admission year

c) They should have passed in such qualifying exam from a recognized institution in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English separately and should have obtained atleast 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) taken together

Candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (45% for persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs and 40% for SC/BC) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology (PCB) in 10+2 exam or other equivalent exam of 10+2

Candidate should have passed qualifying examination as under:

a) The higher secondary exam or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years education structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education; OR

b) Any other exam which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English

In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS course, it shall be necessary for the candidate to obtain minimum of 50% marks (45% for persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs and 40% for SC/BC categories) in PMET-2016

The inter-se-merit of candidates for tie-breaking in PMET-2016 shall be determined in the following manner:

a) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the PMET-2016

b) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the PMET-2016

c) Candidates with less number of attempted wrong answers in all the subjects in the PMET-2016

d) Candidates older in age

After the declaration of the PMET-2016 result, the candidates will apply on the specific proforma for all seats except All India quota seats to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, (BFUHS), Faridkot. Admission will be made by the selection committee through a centralized counselling by BFUHS, Faridkot on the basis of inter-se merit of PMET-2016

Children/wards/dependents (whose parents are not alive) of all those Punjab Govt pensioners who have retired on or before 1st January of the year of passing 10+2 exam and have settled outside Punjab on or before 1st January of the year of passing 10+2 exam and their children/wards/dependants were compelled to do class XII outside Punjab

A candidate who passed his/her 10th and 10+2 examinations or other equivalent examination form a recognized School/Institution situated in Chandigarh Union Territory shall also be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS provided Chandigarh UT administration permits students of Punjab for admission to MBBS/BDS in its Medical/Dental Colleges

Age Limit

Candidates who are going to appear for the Punjab Medical Entrance Test 2016 are required to fulfill the age critieria set by the University

For appearing in this entrance exam candidate must have attain the age of 17 years at the time of admission or should complete the said age on or before 31st December 2016 where as the maximum age limit is 25 years of age as on 31st December 2016

Reservation of Seats

Out of the total seats, Govt. of India shall fill 15% seats (All India Quota) in MBBS/BDS courses through centralized counselling by CBSE on the basis of merit in AIPMT-2016

The reservation for the State quota seats in Govt. institutes in various categories for UG Courses in Got. Medical Institutes shall be as under:
(i) Scheduled Caste 25%, (ii) Backward Classes 5%, (iii) Backward Area/ Border Area (1% each) 2%; (iv) Physically Handicapped/Orthopedically Handicapped only 3%; (v) Sports Persons 1%

Credit shall be given only for the sports achievements made during class XI and XII

Private Institutes: The distribution of seats in private medical institutions shall be: (i) Govt. Quota Seats 50%; (ii) Management/Minority quota seats 50% (including 15% NRI quota)

Private Institutes (for Govt./Management Quota Seats): (a) Scheduled Caste 25%; b) Backward Classes 5%; c) Physically handicapped/orthopedically handicapped - 3%; d) Migrants from Jammu & Kashmir due to terrorist violence - 1%; e) Children/Grandchildren of terrorist/Sikh Riot affected persons - 2%

NRI Seats: 15% seats in all private Institutes/University College and 13 seats each in Govt. Medical College, Patiala and Amritsar and 3 seats in Govt. Dental College, Amritsar and 4 seats in Govt. Dental College, Patiala shall be earmarked for the Non Resident Indians in the following order:

Category I: NRI/Children of NRI who originally belong to the State of Punjab

Category II: NRl/Children of NRI who originally belong to an Indian State other than Punjab


The PMET result 2016 will be available by 21st May 2016. Candidates can get their result and rank through the university office or the website of University. The rank will be decided on the basis of result that would be scored by the candidates in PMET 2016

PMET 2016 Exam Pattern

There will be only one paper comprising in 200 multiple-choice questions based on physics, chemistry, botany and zoology as 50 questions from each

Each question will carry four marks. There is no negative marking for wrong answer. However, one mark will be deducted from unanswered question

Centre(s) for the conduct of PMET-2016: Will be mentioned on the admit card

Syllabus: The syllabus for PMET-2016 is given at Annexure-I of this Prospectus
That will be of 3 hours duration. Te language of the examination will be in English only. The candidates will have to write only with black ball pen

Admit Card

PMET Admit Card 2016 will be available online from 06th May 2016 on the website with a format which would be filled by the candidate and duly signed by the principal of his/her qualified college or by the Executive Magistrate

Admit card will be allotted to the eligible candidates only and should be kept safe for further use during the admission process

No other mode will be entertained to communicate regarding admit card except online

Application Fee

Rs.5000/- for General Category (Rs.2500/- for SC categories only) be deposited in any branch of the Oriental Bank of Commerce throughout India by using Bank challan form which is generated after applying online through University website i.e. by due date and time

The prescribed Application Fee should be remitted through prescribed Bank Challan form or Payment Gateway provided using a Credit card or a Debit card issued by banks in India or through Internet Banking

Candidate will have options to generate bank challan form of Oriental Bank of Commerce or HDFC Bank or deposit fee through payment gateway available at University website

Fee once deposited in University account will not be refunded /adjusted

How to Apply

The candidates may apply for the PMET 2016 application form via online only. Candidates may get the prospectus via online from the of the university or from the university campus after paying the Rs.300/- only

Before applying, candidate should carefully read Prospectus for Eligibility Conditions and Other Important Instructions

Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. Submitting more than one application by a candidate is liable to be rejected

After filling online application form, candidate should have to deposit requisite fee in the University account through any branch of the Oriental Bank of Commerce or HDFC Bank by using Bank Challan Form, which will be generated after filling online application form at university website i.e. or deposit online fee through payment gateway available at University website

Fee shall not be accepted in any other mode i.e. cash, Cheque, Demand Draft etc

After filling online application form by candidate, University will issue a Unique Registration Id (i.e. Login Id) and password will be provided to the candidate at his/her registered Mobile No. through SMS & Email

Important Note: In case candidate wants to make any change in his/her online application form after locking, he/she has to write separate application wherein he/she will clearly describe that what information he/she wants to modify. He will also attach printout of his/her online application form and submit his/her request personally in the University before 13th May 2016 (i.e. two day prior to conduct of PMET-2016) with correction/editing fee of Rs.500/- in the shape of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Science, Faridkot

Availability of Prospectus at University Website: 04th April 2016

Last Date for Online Submission of Application Form through University Website [Application Fee Rs.5000/-(for SC-Rs.2500/-)]: 30th April 2016

Last Date for Online Submission of Application Form with Late Fee of Rs.3000/- through Website [Application Fee including Late Fee is Rs.8000/- (for SC Rs.5500/-)]: 03rd May 2016

Last Date for Deposition of Application Fee in any branch of OBC or HDFC Bank, through Bank Challan Form: 04th May 2016 (Up to 04.00 pm)

Candidates can Download Admit Card from University Website: 06th May 2016 onwards

Date of conduct of PMET-2016 Exam: 15th May 2016 (Sunday, Time & Venue of Test will be printed on Admit Cards)

Availability of Question Paper & Answer Key of PMET-2016 at University Website: 16th & 17th May 2016

Last Date for Submission of Objections regarding Question Paper & Answer Key of PMET-2016: Upto 18th May 2016
