National Institute of Siddha (NIS) Chennai announces Doctor of Medicine (MD) Siddha by entrance test 2017
National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Chennai, announces admission for its Post Graduate MD Course for 2017 at National Institute of Siddha at Tambaram Sanatorium
To promote the growth and development of Siddha system of medicine.
To provide health care services to the public through Siddha system of medicine.
To impart the post graduate education in Siddha system of medicine.
To undertake research and dissemination.
To act as a center of excellence.
Duration of course: 3 years (three years duration with exams at the end of each academic year)
A pass in BIM/BSMS Degree Examination of any Indian University with successful completion of Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship (CRRI)
Candidates who have completed or will be completing CRRI before the date of entrance exam alone are eligible to apply for the M.D (Siddha) Degree course or;
A pass in the examination considered equivalent to the afore-mentioned Siddha degrees by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai and the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi
The candidates should have registered their names either in State Council of Indian Medicine or Central Council of Indian Medicine
Allotment of Seats of Branches
Branch-I: Maruthuvam - 08 Seats
Branch-II: Gunapadam - 08 Seats
Branch-III: Sirappu Maruthuvam - 08
Branch-IV: Kuzhandai Maruthuvam - 08 Seats
Branch-V: Noi Naadal - 07 Seats
Branch-VI: Nanjunoolum Maruthuva Neethinoolum - 07 Seats (6+1 BIMSTEC)
Total: 46 (45 + 1 BIMSTEC)
Out of the total seats, one seat is allotted for a Foreign (BIMSTEC) student by rotation from any one of the existing Branches. This year 2017-18, it is allotted to Branch-IV Kuzhandhai Maruthuvam
Out of the remaining seats, 15% are reserved for natural born SC candidates, 7.5% for natural born ST candidates and 27% for OBC candidates (In respect of OBC candidates, certificate of OBC status and exclusion from creamy layer for the year 2017-18 should be produced)
3% of the total seats (Special Category ) from the General Category is reserved for PH candidates with locomotory disabilities of lower limbs between 50% and 70% under the Disability act subject to the condition that the disability certificate issued by a duly constituted
The stipend shall be paid only to the candidates doing M.D.(S) course for the FIRST time. All Post–graduate students (except student of BIMSTEC category) shall be paid stipend at the approved rates as per government norms. BIMSTEC candidates will be paid as per the scheme applicable to them.
The stipend is payable after verification of attendance and on the recommendation of satisfactory performance of the P.G. students by the respective Head of the Department.
Selection and Admission Process:
Admission to the course will be made strictly based on the merit list prepared on the basis of AIAPGET-2017 marks and applicable rules and regulations.
In case more than one candidate has secured the same marks the tie shall be resolved on the basis of the following order of priority:
1. Seniority in age.
2. Percentage of marks obtained in the Final year examinations (Theory, Oral and Clinical marks).
3. Least number of attempts in passing the final year examination.
Option and allotment of branches will be made at the time of counselling to be conducted at National Institute of Siddha, Chennai. Candidates who are absent for counselling ,will lose their right for admission.
Branch once opted and allotted to the candidate at the time of counselling will not be changed subsequently under any circumstances.
The candidates who are selected for admission shall pay an amount of Rs.40,300/- (Rupees Forty Thousand and Three Hundred only) towards first year PG course fee by way of a Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of the Director, National Institute of Siddha, payable at Chennai, at the time of counselling. If any candidate fails to remit the fee prescribed above, the admission of her/him will be forfeited.
Physical Fitness Certificate from a competent authority should be submitted at the time of joining the course. If the candidate fails to join the course after getting allotment order and within the stipulated time the amount paid at the time of counselling will be forfeited.
The admissions for M.D (Siddha) course will close on the cutoff date prescribed by The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University for the academic year 2017-18.
Application forms can be downloaded from the website www.nischennai.org. Demand Draft, from any of the Nationalised Banks, for Rs.1500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred only) in favour of "Director, National Institute of Siddha" payable at Chennai, drawn on or after should be enclosed
For OBC/ SC/ST candidates the cost of application is Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) subject to production of a duly attested Xerox copy of SC/ST certificate, issued by the competent authority
The filled in application along with enclosures should reach the Director, National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai-600047, Tamil Nadu on or before 13th September2017 upto 5.00 p.m. Applications received after the due date and time will be summarily rejected

Last Date for Receipt of Filled-in Application Form: 13th September 2017 up to 05.00 pm
Date of Counseling: 22nd September 2017 (9:00am)
