Government of India announces Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for wards of Central Armed Police Forces, Assam Rifles and State Police Personnel 2021-22

PMSS for wards of CAPF, AR and State Police Personnel 2021 – The Welfare and Rehabilitation Board (WARB), Ministry of Home Affairs invites applications for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme 2021-2022 For Central Armed Police Forces And Assam Rifles from the dependent widows and wards of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles personnel and dependent wards of State Police personnel to pursue the first professional degree at undergraduate or postgraduate level.


Candidates can now apply for PM Scholarship Scheme 2021 which was recently launched to encourage higher technical and professional education for the wards and widows of Ex/ Serving Army/Navy or Air Force personnel.

About the PMSS 2021

  • The Welfare and Rehabilitation Board (WARB), Ministry of Home Affairs invites applications for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles 2021-22 from the dependent widows and wards of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles personnel.

PMSS for wards of CAPF, AR and State Police Personnel 2021 Important Dates

  • Scholarship closing date : 30th November 2021
  • Last date for defective verification : 15th December 2021
  • Last date for institute verification : 15th December 2021

Scholarship Amount

  • INR 3000 per month for girls
  • INR 2500 per month for boys
  • Note : The scholarship amount is to be paid annually after selection at INR 36000 to each girl and INR 30000 to each boy.

Eligibility Criteria for PMSS for wards of CAPF, AR and State Police Personnel 2021

For CAPFs & Assam Rifles :-

  • Wards/widows of deceased CAPFs & AR personnel died in harness/election duty, wards of personnel disabled due to causes attributable to Government service and Wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards.
  • Wards/widows of retired and serving CAPFs & AR Personnel. (Personnel below Officer Rank)
  • Pursuing first professional degree programme in the field of Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B. Pharma, B.SC (Nursing,
  • Agriculture, etc.), MBA and MCA etc. in accordance with the guidelines as mentioned in Para- 8 (B).
  • Having minimum 60% marks in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent in case of new applicant.Or
  • For applicants applying under the renewal category, it is mandatory to pass each subsequent academic year of the professional courses being pursued by them with minimum 50% marks.
  • A grace period of one year only for cases, where there is a delay on part of the candidate for submission of application for renewal of scholarship may be entertained.

For State Police Forces.

  • Dependent wards of State Police Personnel who are martyred during Terror/ Naxal attacks are eligible under this category subject to the following:-
  • Pursuing first professional degree programme in the field of Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B. Pharma, B.SC (Nursing,
  • Agriculture, etc.), MBA and MCA etc. in accordance with the guidelines as mentioned in Para- 8 (B).
  • Having minimum 60% marks in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent in case of new applicant. Or

PMSS for wards of CAPF, AR and State Police Personnel 2021 Application Process

  • From the academic year 2021-22 onwards, the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for CAPFs & AR is being implemented through National Scholarship Portal (NSP) https://scholarships.gov.in/
  • Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by following the below-mentioned steps:
    • Step 1 : Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button
    • Step 2 : Read the guidelines carefully, select the undertaking, and ‘Continue’.
    • Step 3 : Select the state of domicile, scholarship category, scheme type (scholarship scheme), gender; write the applicant’s name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID
    • Step 4 : Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFSC Code, Account Number)
    • Step 5 : Fill in Aadhaar or Bank Account Number as identification detail and click on the ‘Register’ button
    • Step 6 : The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated
    • Step 7 : Now, login using OTP and fill the application form
    • Step 8 : An application ID and password will be generated. Use that for future references
  • Note : All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly; no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill only one application as multiple applications will lead to the cancellation of the form.

Documents required to be submitted along with Application form 

  • Following documents are required:
  • Service certificate to be issued by H.O.O. in case of serving personnel
  • Scanned copy of the mark sheet of MEQ (Minimum Entry Qualification) i.e Class 12, Diploma, Graduation or equivalent
  • PPO or Discharge certificate (mandatory for category A to F)
  • Disability certificate (mandatory for category B and D)
  • Death certificate (mandatory for category A and C)
  • Certificate of Gallantry award (Mandatory for category E)

Selection Criteria

  • The selection of the candidates is done on the basis of percentage of marks obtained by them in MEQ and the order of preference set by WARB.
