Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship 2018-19

Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, invites applications for the award of Scholarships for the academic year 2018-19 for Artists, Art-Critics and Art Historians

The Objective of awarding scholarships to young and budding artists is mainly to provide them workplace to improve their skills/ innovative ideas in their respective field of visual arts

Scope
This Scheme seeks to award scholarships to young and deserving upcoming artists including applicants from a visual art background by providing them a work space to improve their creative skills and innovative ideas in their respective fields

Number
Total number of 40 Scholarships will be given during the year 2018-19, subject to availability of funds and workspace

2. Painting
3. Ceramic
4. Graphic
5. Art history
6. Art criticism
7. Arts management
8. Art curation and documentation

Duration & Term of Scholarship
The duration of the proposed scholarship will be for one year (12 months). The selected scholars will be required to work only at the Regional Centres of the Akademi situated in Garhi (New Delhi), Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and at the camp office Shimla which are attached to their respective states/Union Territories* (see table) only

Value of Scholarship
Each scholar will be paid Rs. 10,000/- per month for a period of one year to cover his/ her living expenses, travel expenses, purchase of art material, etc

Eligibility
Candidates should be Indian citizens
Candidates should have an adequate general education to pursue their scholarship effectively
The applicant should have an art back ground (or) education in the field of Art – Degree/ diploma, (or) proof of work experience in the field of visual art for at least five years. The Scholarship will be awarded only to an applicant who fulfils all the requirements of scholarship
He/she is also required to work full time (from 9:30 am to 6 pm daily, on all working days)
Candidates should have adequate knowledge in the discipline for which they have applied for
The candidate’s age should not be less than 21 years and not more than 35 years as on 01st January of the year in which the application is being made. Age relaxation is not permissible
Those applicants who are undergoing regular studies are not eligible for scholarship; the applicants engaged in full time employment or business are not eligible for the scholarship
If employed on any other terms they must, provide complete detail and attach the NOC from the employer, along with a proper address

 

Selection Process

The selection for award of scholarships will be made by a Jury comprising of senior artists and experts in the field of art. The selection and award of scholarship will be considered only on the submission of all required materials. The photographs of exhibits or prints of published articles will be the main basis, but not the only basis for selection
The result will be published on the website of the Lalit Kala Akademi. The Award letter will be sent to the selected candidates by speed post

Duly filled applications with all the required materials should reach the Secretary, Lalit Kala Akademi, Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi, in a closed envelope mentioning “Application for LKA Scholarship 2018-19” should be submitted within one month from the date of its advertisement in National Dailies

Entry Fee
There will be an entry fee of Rs.100/- and it will be submitted along with the application form as postal order/ Bank draft payable at New Delhi to the Secretary, Lalit Kala Akademi
