Italian Government Scholarships for Foreign and IRE Students in Italy, 2016-17

International students are invited to submit their online application for the award of Italian Government Scholarships for the year 2016-17 for pursuing higher studies or research projects at higher education institutions with the Italian State Education and Research System (State Institutions and research centers, or legally recognized by the competent state authority)

Courses Offered

Scholarships may be sought for pursuing courses of 3, 6 or 9 months duration as per the below mentioned categories.
Applicants may apply for one (1) month scholarship in courses for Teachers of Italian as second language

Benefits Provided

The selected candidates will be exempted from the payment of the university tuition fees, according to the existing rules; whereas the universities, as part of their autonomy may not allow such exemption. Candidates are therefore required to contact the chosen institution to avail the eventual taxes or tuition fees
Health/Accident Insurance will be given to the selected candidates for a period of scholarship by Italian govt; the candidate should not currently in receipt of another scholarship offered by Italian govt. in order to avail this scholarship

Age Limit

Candidates who are younger than 18 years (born not after 15th April 1998) or older than 35 years (born not before 15th April 1981) on the day of the deadline for the submission of the applications, are not eligible
Candidates for Courses for teachers of Italian as second language (see above, section III, letter I) are eligible until they are 45 years (born not before 15th April 1971) on the day of the deadline for the submission of the applications

Time Frame

01st January 2017 to 30th September 2017; the candidates can apply for three (3) months scholarships in Advanced Courses in Italian language and culture

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have knowledge of Italian Language- In this regard, the students must hold a certificate of Intermediate level in Italian or equivalent linguistic proficiency issued by a local organization or language school (example- Italian Cultural Institute, Dante Alighieri Society branch etc.)
Applicants for enrolment in Advanced Courses on Italian Language and Culture must have at least an A2 level proficiency in Italian. It is not required Italian language knowledge for applicants who enrol for university courses held entirely in English
To be eligible, applicant should have scored 60 per cent marks in the required qualification
Students enrolled in a year exceeding the legal duration of the course of study are not eligible for scholarships

Selection of Candidates

In each country, a Selection Committee appointed by the Italian Embassy in the candidate’s country will make the selection of candidates

Application forms must be submitted on-line by 00:00 am (Italian time) on Friday, April 15th 2016; aApplicants will be notified via email of the reception of their application
