IIHS Bangalore Urban Fellows Program (UFP) 2017-18
Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), Bangalore invites applications for the Urban Fellows Program (UFP) 2017 for Graduates and young Professionals; UFP is nine (9) months fully funded teaching program, interdisciplinary fellowship.
The UFP 2017-18 will award 35 fully-funded Fellowships on a competitive basis. For UFP 2016-17 we received over 700 applications for 30 Fellowships. Early applications are strongly encouraged
Within it lie both the opportunities of increased economic growth and employment as well as the challenges of persistent inequality, extreme deprivation and environmental degradation

The Application Deadline is 01st May 2017 (Monday 17:00 hrs, IST)

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to set up interview times and dates: End of May 2017
Selected and wait listed candidates will be informed: End of June 2017
Urban Fellows Program 2017 Eligibility Criteria
The below mentioned applicants are eligible to apply for UFP 2017:
Candidates will have a Bachelors Degree in any subject or discipline and their age should not exceed 30 years at the time of application. Therefore applicants should be born on or after 01st August 1987
The applicant holding a Bachelors Degree in any subject or discipline, including the social sciences, planning, architecture, journalism, law, media and the arts are eligible to apply
Candidates who have non-degree training and have undertaken certification programs after their 10+2 schooling are entitled to apply for fellows programme
Candidates who do not have formal education after their Class 12, but have experience of formal or informal work in urban sectors are also applicable to apply for programme
Applicants must be Indian citizens, or Person of Indian Origin (PIOs)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs)
Applications from women, people with disabilities and those from economically and socially excluded communities are encouraged.
The applying candidate’s age should not be more than 30 years at the time of applying for application; the candidates are required to have basic proficiency in reading English
Candidates with limited speaking ability in English are also encourage as they will be provided with support.
The Urban Fellows Program is a fully funded fellowship. The fellowship covers the cost of tuition and accommodation. The cost of travel and accommodation during the Involvement trips are also covered under it.
The Admitted will be asked for a Rs 20,000/- deposit to secure their admission which will be refunded upon their successful completion of the UFP.
Candidates with significant financial need may also apply for an additional living stipend.

There are four main elements to each application: (a) Basic Personal Information; (b) Educational Information; (c) Work /Internship/Volunteering Experience (if any); (d) Supporting Information and Documents
A Personal Statement (700 words): In a city that you know, describe an urban problem that concerns or motivates you. This could be a local issue in your neighbourhood or a bigger issue that affects your or any other city (transport or housing, for example)
