Hansen Summer Institute on Leadership Scholarship 2018 (Fully Funded) at University of San Diego

 

Hansen Summer Institute on Leadership Scholarship invites applications from US and Non-US Citizens for the summer program at the University of San Diego.This scholarship is fully funded by a generous grant from the Fred J. Hansen Foundation. Fellows receive hands-on training in team-building, public speaking, negotiation, mediation and working together to solve international problems

 

The Hansen Summer Institute will host its next group of young leaders in July at the University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES)

Features of the Program

A primary goal of the program focuses on creating an international community of young scholars who will use their summer experience as a foundation for creating lasting friendships and acquiring a common practical understanding of a more peaceful future

Program elements will involve classroom instruction and hands-on training in the latest techniques of conflict resolution, mediation, and intercultural management

Classroom training will complement local excursions to San Diego historical attractions and cultural events including a fourth of July parade, a Padres baseball game, and a harbour cruise

Hansen Summer Institute training aims to provide a "leadership toolbox" to participants for resolving conflict and building a better future for their respective countries

 

Program Duration

It will be an approximately 3-week program. It will start from June 30 and end on 21 July 2018

 

Scholarship Reward

Accommodation and meals for the duration of the program, with shared rooms with participants of the same gender. Transportation to/from the campus to all meetings and activities

NON-US Students will also receive

Round trip international air travel from the participant’s hometown to San Diego, California

DS-2019 - Student and Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) fee

Health insurance for the duration of the program

 

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have demonstrated leadership potential by working for community service, another public service or in a non-governmental organization

Nationality: People of all Nationalities are eligible to participate

Age Limit: Aged between 20-25 years as on 01st July 2018

 

Academic Qualification

The candidate should have been Upper-division undergraduate with 2 years of college/university. Candidate can be a graduate student with a professional interest in international relations, diplomacy, international economic development or related fields.Candidate must have demonstrated leadership potential outside of the classroom in the community, nation or region

Have an academic adviser verify in writing the candidates English Proficiency

 

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected by the team of experts duly appointed on the basis of the application received, fulfilling of the eligibility criteria.

The Review of the applications will begin in February and the result will be announced in Mid March

 

Application  

The candidates can apply for this scholarship through online mode. There is no offline process to submit the application form. The application form of the student will not be reviewed by the selection committee until institute has received the entire, completed application (100% in all sections, including transcripts and letters of reference)

Submission of Reference Letters

Candidates have required 2 reference letters from persons who know them well and can explain why they are a qualified applicant for the program. Candidates should click on the "Request Sections" button on their application dashboard to submit the names and email addresses of their referees
