Youth Research Fellowship (YRF) 2014

The College draws your attention for a unique Youth Research Fellowship (YRF) program offered by Guru Nanak Khalsa College and Gunvati J Kapoor Medical Relief Charitable Foundation in collaboration with Partners for Urban Knowledge, Action and Research (PUKAR) for students of First/Second Year Degree courses of Khalsa College

The fellowship aims to provide an inspiring environment and opportunities to learn, practice and integrate skills that will impact the quality of life of these students, their families and their communities where they live

About Kapoor Foundation: Gunvati J Kapoor Medical Relief Charitable Foundation is a Medical trust that has been established in the year 2000. Headquartered in USA, the trust supports programs and opportunities focusing on education, health and nutrition to the most under served and vulnerable sections in India, mainly women and children

It is a professionally managed foundation, which works collaboratively with leading NGO’s across India
The Foundation has been collaborating with G N Khalsa College for the last four years and around hundred and fifty students have availed scholarships and opportunities the foundation offered

About Details of Fellowships: The fellowship comprises of a research grant given to groups to cover the expenditures for the research. Upon successful completion of the fellowship program, each of the students will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.15000/- in June/July 2015

The fellowship provides a unique opportunity to get trained by professionals in improving soft skills like writing skills, interview skills, social skills, computer skills, research skills (methodology, data collection, coding and analysis), presentation skills, leadership skills, team work skills and motivation skills
It also gives an opportunity to work on a socially relevant project in a professional environment with leading NGOs. On successful completion of the fellowship, the students will be given certificates jointly issued by all the stakeholders

Eligibility Criteria: The Fellowships are available for regular students of first or second year of Khalsa College during the academic year 2014-2015

In addition, they have to fulfil the following conditions: The annual family income should not exceed Rs 3,00,000/ (three lakhs only)

For the students studying in the second year, they should have cleared all the papers of Semester I and Semester II

The selected students should be willing to undertake training programmes and research project for about 30-40 days during vacations and holidays under the guidance of Kapoor Foundation and PUKAR

The selected candidates will have to sign a MOU with the Foundation and agree to its terms and conditions

About Orientation Programme: For more information and to get answers of queries, the interested students are invited for an orientation programme on Friday, 18th July 2014 in the College Seminar Hall at 11.45 a.m.

Kindly register for the orientation programmes at the Dept of Mathematics & Statistics (between 10.00 am and 12.00 Noon) on any day and confirm participation. Seats are limited and registration will be on first cum first serve basis
